I've only done one oil change on our 2007 Audi A4 and this was the first time I have encountered such a filter configuration. It's pretty ridiculous compared to the typical screw-on can type of filter. If you have not done this process on an Audi, there is a special way (or tool, if you want to avoid hassle) you have to drain the oil filter enclosure first (basically unscrew a cap and push up on a valve until all the oil comes out of the filter housing). Then, you have to remove the filter housing which has this filter in it. The thing that sucks is that it is kind of hard to wipe all the old, dirty oil out of the filter housing. And if you have an Audi B7 then you know the oil gets real dirty, real quick. Quality of the filter seems really good, I used a Mann in the cabin air filter as well and it works really great. I would recommend this brand of filters for Audi owners.

These are good filters and fit into my VW GTI and have always held up. They are perfect for the DIYer. I take them with me to my Indie Mechanic so I know what is going into the car. I change the oil 5,000 or every 6 months whichever comes first. I have not had one of these filters collapse on me. Most of the time I hit 6 months beforeI hit 5,000 miles. Some Mann filters are still made in Germany. The ones that ship from Amazon and the ones you find in places like Advanced Auto are made in Mexico. I would prefer to get a filter made in Germany but it is not a huge deal because VW makes cars all over the world now. A lot of VWs in the are made in Mexico. If I remember correctly the Jetta has been made there since the late 1980s. I gave them a 4 because of the origin of the product but they are a quality product.

I am a Volkswagen Technician and these filters are the same as oem vw ones with different packaging.

UPDATE: It was my own stupid fault, I'll be first to admit. I had ordered the /8x filter, when I really needed the /6x filter. The filters themselves are the same - just different gaskets. I ordered it via a "work" rewards type site, so didn't get the "this does not fit your car" warning that I would have got if I'd ordered direct on Amazon. Reverted review to 5 stars, because it works as well as OEM for half the price. I have used this filter many times in the past and it's been perfect. However, the latest purchase came with a WHITE rubber o-ring gasket. I assumed that it was an "upgraded" part, more fool me - it actually leaks. I've done oil changes all my life and this is the first ever time this has happened. BE AWARE - if it comes with a white gasket, DO NOT USE it, it needs to be the black one with the tab. I've no idea why this was messed up, but it lost about 2 liters of oil in a day, so if I hadn't checked, it's likely the engine would have seized. I had to run to get a new filter and gasket from the dealer. While this filter doesn't deserve one star, I figures it'd get the most views if I rated it one star... the filter itself is 5 stars for value, just CHECK THE GASKET!
