Great tank for kids, adults, and the fish that’ll live there
The media could not be loaded. Great tank! We started with a rounded 3 gallon and soon after upgraded to this. The fish seem to like this shape more! Perfect size for a few fish to have a nice home, we currently have two tetras, a corydora, small tetra, and a bottom feeder. Could probably get 1-2 more but their all very happy at this number. Filter works great and the whole system is easy to care for. Not loud and just a sweet little water sound, like a mini fountain. Great for kids, or adults that want to get into fish tanks.

Worked great for small school of tetras
This product has been great for me! The filter works, and the tank has never leaked. The light works. The filter is quiet as long as you keep the water level in the tank high. It was easy for me to set up. Worked great for my small school of tetras in a college dorm (where 10 gal is the maximum size allowed). I actually broke mine (completely my own fault, but it did survive moving in and out of the dorm several times before that, so pretty sturdy), and bought an identical tank because I am happy with it. The set up worked so well I managed to accidentally have two batches of tetra babies.

Great tank for the price
I had the tank now for 4 months. It works as it should. No issues. Fish seem happy. Filter system is quite. I would recommend this tank set up. Edit: 1 year later the tank is still great. I did however have to replace the lid. The lights stopped working. I couldn't get them to work. So I ordered a new lid with light. Other than that no issues with the tank, filter or heater.

Good initial set up, but filter broke
So, first issue is the filter broke after five days of setting up the tank right after I got everything cycled (fast tracked with API Quick Start) and already bought my betta. I opted to put the betta in the fish tank anyway since an unfiltered but already cycled and roomy fish tank would be better than the cup I was trying to rescue it from. This isn't too big of a deal to me since my plan was already to get a sponge filter set up. I just got this tank kit to get me started. I am technically a beginner but my mom was a fish tank enthusiast for some time so I know some ins and outs. If you are a true beginner and planning on depending on this kit, I would be careful with the purchase. I may have just gotten a bad filter; the other reviews kind of hint that may be the case. Either way, the filter breaking just fast tracked my timeline to building my "dream fish tank."Another small issue is the suction cup for the heater doesn't work (you can see it floating in the back right corner). And, it is not adjustable so look to get fish that like the 75F-79F range (as shown on my thermometers). Bettas are okay in this temp, although it is a little high and I am eyeing a better heater anyway. So, again this is not too much of an issue for my situation.Ten gallons is perfect for beginners as long as they do their research and don't overstock the tank or mix incompatible species, so that is a plus and the tank itself seems to be great. The hood and lighting are perfect. for beginners. The hood looks stylish and the lights are a good brightness (with the filter running they have a ripple effect of actual sunlight on a sea/lake bed). The cord for the lights have a switch to turn them on and off and its places on a spot on the cord that should make it accessible with most set ups. I do plan to get a clear hood and one of those lights that have the night/day led lights just because that is my preference for now, but I will be saving this hood for either another fish tank or if I decided to swap back and fourth. All the other little things that came with the fish tank are good. Used the water conditioner and it works just fine. There are some coupons for fish food and supplies. It also came with sample fish flakes; I just used those to help jumpstart my nitrogen cycle, but I will be feeding my betta a variety of pellets, freeze dried, frozen, and live food so they weren't needed beyond initial set up.

Great First Tank
The media could not be loaded. My 6yo got sea monkeys for Christmas and I got weirded out so I told her she could get some fish instead. I had a goldfish in a tiny bowl when I was a kid so I figured that’s what I would do for her. Times have changed. I visited Petco and they said I had to get a tank and set it up over about 2-3wks before I could get fish. I didn’t believe them and thought they’re stuff was way too expensive, so I bought this bundle on Amazon for $99 and headed to my local fish store. Setup was super easy and our Harlequin raspboras are very happy. The kit comes with conditioner and food, but we only use the food because they seem to like it. I got the water conditioner, stabilizer, decorations and gravel from the fish store because I didn’t feel comfortable ordering that stuff online. It is a process, so I’m glad that I got professional help. They helped me out with initial water setup and then adding the fish, but it only took 48hrs to setup, vs. Petco’s 2-3wks which is ridiculous. Make sure you either get help from professionals or do your research when buying fish. Not all species do well with startup tanks and you do have to cycle the water before adding any additional fish so it’s not toxic, but the bundle itself was a great start.

Not the best beginner tank; Beware
This is the first week with new tank. The heater that came with the tank would consistently turn off/on depending on if you moved the cord or just looked at it. So we threw that away. Luckily we had a heater from our last tank. There is A LOT of glue all over the tank. It is not the prettiest. I will say that so far the pump is quiet and I did not have any leaks. I wish that the cover would be easier to open and not just one giant piece of plastic when I need to get into it. I also wish it had more light options. For a beginner tank, there should be options for light for different fish, especially for the kiddos to see/use. I ended up buying an additional light since we had glo fish. All in all it really isn’t a great beginner tank. Broken pieces and too simplistic lighting. I'd rather spend a little more money and get something better.
