The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe

As an unrepentant Elizabethphile (not a real word, I know, but it should be), I was delighted to see Ms. Kelly’s book pop up! It is a beautifully & simply written look behind the curtain at the magic that is Queen Elizabeth II. The reader is treated to the creative process involved in crafting HM’s beautiful wardrobe, photos included! I enjoyed learning the origin story of Ms. Kelly becoming the Queen’s designer & dresser. There is even a glimpse of Her Majesty’s sense of humor!

Just loved the photos of the Queen’s dresses and all the beautiful colors and fabrics. This book was written with sensitivity and kindness and gives the reader a peek into a world we would otherwise never imagine.

I enjoyed this book, particularly the descriptions of moments of levity between the author and the Queen. The photos are lovely.

Photographs beautiful but contents didn’t tell much

Having just finished watching the series, The Crown, this book caught my attention. What Angela Kelly says about the late Queen Elizabeth fleshes out her character a bit more to me. It is fascinating learning how detailed the whole wardrobe issue was. It must have been a massive job, but she seems to have done it cheerfully. It's a shame the royal family is upset about Kelly's books and the casual nature of some of the pictures in this one. Somehow, I think the late Queen's reputation will survive her hands in her pockets and her feet up on her fainting couch. Recommended

This book shows so many things that were done for the late Queen to help her always look relaxed and amazing. Wonderful pictures and written with kindness and respect. Loved it.

The Queen was a beautiful lady. I think a bit of sparkle left the world when she died.Thank you Angela for your beautiful book which gave us a glimpse into the making of the Queen's wardrobe.

Warm, respectful, funny and much more. The rigour that Angela Kelly brings to her work and life, is inspiring and worthy for The Queen. It reads like a biography of The Queen, herself!

Qui la regina Elisabetta è raccontata da un punto di vista insolito: quello della sua personal dresser. Grazie a questo libro si possono conoscere i segreti che stanno dietro a diversi vestiti, indossati dalla regina in differenti momenti: dall'incontro con un capo di stato a quello con il Papa, dalla visita in un Paese straniero alla partecipazione a un particolare evento britannico... Il tutto è corredato da bellissime fotografie. Certo, se cercate una biografia della regina, questo non è il libro adatto. Se invece vi incuriosisce sapere cosa sta dietro agli abbigliamenti della regina, se volete conoscere qualche particolare in più sulla sovrana e sugli eventi a cui ha partecipato negli ultimi decenni, se volete saperne di più su cosa vuol dire lavorare a servizio della regina, allora questo volume può interessarvi. A me questo libro è piaciuto molto, leggerlo mi ha divertito.

Un libro interesante y muy bonito referente al trabajos e una de las mujeres más cercanas a La Reina Isabel II. Al ser una de las empleadas más cercanas de la reina, tiene muchas anécdotas que ayudan a visualizar de una manera amplia la vestimenta de la reina. Si eres alguien que le interese la moda, la historia de la realeza o te llama la atención un lado que siempre ha llamado la atención la atencion mas nunca se ha leído al respecto, es un libro muy recomendado. Es un libro relativamente corto, ya que trae muchas fotos que ayudan a complementar la narrativa con el propósito principal del mismo y de fácil le lectura.
