Not Bad for the Money
While packed for woodworking, these are very decent for the home or semi-pro shop who want to get up and measuring at a low cost. Compared to a Mitu, the price is a throwaway, but a very good value if not abused.

Adequate and as described
For the money, it does the job. I needed a basic height gauge for knife making, it works. I wish it was carbide tipped but for annealed steel it works ok. Decent weight. Doesn’t feel too flimsy.

Good bang for the buck. Works for a hobby shop.
The base on the surface gauge was slightly wobbly as was stated in one of the reviews. I was planning on polishing the base anyway...It took me about 15 minutes with a makeshift surface plate and some 400 grit sandpaper to level it out. After that, some 1000 grit to polish it up and it works very nicely. It glides on the surface plate now. I might go to some 2K grit. The reason for polishing…less wear on the granite surface place. You want the gauge base to glide instead of scrape off the material of the surface plate. I checked the gauge with my 1-2-3 block and got exactly that. 1.000”, 2.000” and 3.000” with the block around 80F. Not bad for a poor boy setup. Consider thermal expansion. At 68F, all sides were shy .001"+-. So maybe the block was ground and measured at 80F, dunno. Repeatability was good.

The quality is higher than the price.
the quality is higher than the price. The gauge is well made and proves to be accurate. For doing small projects at home, I am very happy with it. On top off that the batteries can be bought anywhere. This was a consideration for me. I would buy this tool again.

Works great
I bought this for setting but height in a router table and shaper. It works great with better reach than the more common woodworking height gages. Also, has metric and imperial measurements.

Good tool
Good product, but I convert it into tool indicator for a line boring system

Great gauge for layout work
I read all of the reviews, and am convinced that many people either expect a $40 measuring tool to have the same quality as a $500+ tool, or they just like to be nay-sayers, or don’t know how to use it. This is a fine height gauge for $40. I am totally pleased. Of course it needed some calibration (it was not square to the base) but by loosening a set screw and using an engineers square on a surface plate the problem was quickly solved. Regarding the flatness of the base, mine was fine. If there is anything lacking, I would say that it takes some patience to set the gauge to a specific height since it doesn’t have a good micro adjustment feature. Just as you would set a caliper for manual scribing, the same process is required with this tool. No big deal. Learn how to do it, practice, and you won’t be frustrated. I would recommend this product to anyone who, like myself, has a home machine shop working to reasonable tolerances. I don’t plan on making parts to a +/- 0.0001” tolerance since my lathe and mill are not capable of doing so. I do, however, expect to make parts that are within +/- 0.001” and this height gauge is sufficient for that task.

Great price, so-so performance
This is a great price for a digital height gauge. Most are 2.5-3 times more expensive than this. However, with the cheap price you get the expected poor performance and annoyances. Repeatibility is around .001", which is mediocre for any precision measuring equipment, but just barely good enough for what I need it for, so I will probably keep it. An even bigger negative is that the gauge resets to zero every time it turns off, which means you need to reset the zero point each time. I have never seen a height gauge do this, as it seems to defeat the purpose of using a height gauge (which in my case is to measure and compare multiple parts on a granite surface plate). This makes using the gauge much more aggravating and time-consuming when you either accidentally turn it off or it turns off automatically. So, as with most products, you get what you pay for and you will have to make the decision whether these trade-offs are worth the low price.

Works great and solidly manufactured, but buttons are floppy
