Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism: A Popular Outline

Lenin made an excellent description of the mechanism of the imperialism. The diagnosis is valid also today. It makes us understand many of the weird phenomenons of our dais better than the works of most contemporary thinkers. The tragedy has been that Lenin's advise on the solution of the identified problems prooved to be very poor and mistaken. So after about 100 years now we are provided with a good diagnosis and have not yet the sliceest idea how to treat the problems that are about to cause great tragedies of humanity in the future. The optimism of Lenin to be able to identify the solution can be considered as a product of his epoch because at that time many other word theories have emerged. Each word theories prooved to be naive however no other relevant theory has replaced them. I recommend this book for everybody. The many data characteristic for the time of the author makes seem the book a bit obsolate however the message can be regarded actual.

Marxist literature is not prescriptive, he doesn't tell you how to fix the problems, just tries to convey understanding.

This book, even though it was written over 100 years ago, have just about convinced that I live in an empire. There is an oligarchy and sooner or later, we will under corporate monopolist capitalism with only one place we can go to buy all of our retail goods. At the same, I believe there will always be competition in our present economic system.

Lenin's book is one of the most important of the last century. It outlines the growth of monopoly capitalism, and the wars for resources to which it inevitably leads. Nothing, of course, has changed, and this book remains an excellent, indeed necessary, background for any student of modern politics.

Lovely little book in itself, and the content just completes it (funny, that!).If you're looking to create a foundation in politics, and want to remain impartial, I would advise reading something to contradict this piece. Though, Lenin knew what he was on about.

A good read but nothing to getting really appreciate or get excited about!
