LEATHERMAN, Squirt PS4 Keychain Multitool with Spring-Action Scissors and Aluminum Handles, Built in the USA, Blue

My girlfriend expressed interest in having a multitool of her own after seeing my own collection. I did quite a bit of research and decided that the Leatherman Squirt PS4 would be the best fit for her. I will be giving it to her as a gift this upcoming Valentine's Day. Reasons for choosing : - I needed something small enough for her to slip into her pocket or on a keychain. Most women don't have as much pocket space as men, so I needed a tool that wouldn't be awkward and cumbersome for her to carry. -She needed something practical for her daily use. The scissors are great for trimming both fingernails and hangnails. The file can be used to smooth out any rough parts on the nail after trimming. Scissors are also great for cutting off stray threads on clothing. -Good selection of tools. Pliers are always handy to have, even if you don't think you'll need them. Great for providing extra grip when tightening bolts, picking things up, etc. I'd rather have pliers and not need them than need them and not have them. The pliers also have wire cutters on them. Also has two different sizes of flat head screw drivers. The smaller driver looks small enough that it might work on those small screws on glasses. I have not tested this yet. Now for the PROS and CONS. PROS : - Great price. Amazon offers this multitool for half of the price of what it costs in popular sporting good stores. -Great size. Not too big, not too small. Just the right size to be useful for light tasks. - Scissors. Leatherman does a great job with their scissors. I have the same type of scissors on a different multitool and they have held up great. Easy and comfortable to use. I use my scissors constantly. - Screwdrivers. The larger screwdriver is stout enough that you won't have to worry about breaking your tool. With some of the longer, thinner screwdrivers, you feel as if they will break, or twist your tool out of place, due to the size. This one feels more heavy duty. - All tools are easily accessible. Fingernail nicks are on all of the tools. -Great brand and company to do business with. Leatherman is a great company to support. CONS : - None of the tools lock. This is to be expected with a tool of this size. There isn't much room for a locking mechanism. PLEASE be careful when using the knife. It's a decent blade, but you could end up hurting yourself if you collapse the blade onto your fingers while using it. - No tweezers. Amazon needs to update their product page. There are no tweezers included in this tool. Would be a great addition. That's about all I can find for CONS. Overall, this is a great tool and I think my girlfriend will be very pleased to receive it! I would recommend this tool to anyone. It's small enough to slip into your pocket and forget about during the day, but it's there for you when you need it.

I watched a lot of reviews on youtube before deciding on a pocket multi-tool. The squirt seldom had bad reviews so I decided to buy it. I'm so glad I did. I've got the PS4 in blue and I carry it with me everywhere now. I use it multiple times a week for everything from changing license plates to tightening the screws on my $5 sunglasses (the phillips tip is fine enough to handle this and sturdy enough to handle the large screws on my refrigerator). The Squirt looks like a toy but it's so small and light that I typically forget it's in my pocket until someone yells, "anybody got a screwdriver?" Then it's Squirt to the rescue yet again. I actually bought my wife one too in red. She loves the file and the scissors and actually uses the small blade on it quite frequently to open packages, mail, etc. The finish on the two we have has been sturdy so far despite being carried in the same pocket as my keys and her purse with whatever mysterious contents are in there. A few small scuffs are easily rubbed out and the finish looks like new again. I've had mine for about 2 or 3 months now and I have yet to find the Squirt lacking in anything I've tried to do with it. Obviously it's not for torquing lug nuts off a stubborn axle, but for a small package it packs a ton of utility. This is the perfect gift for someone who can't carry a big full size multi-tool around but still want the capability of having one around. For the price, utility, size, and toughness, it can't be beat. 10/10 REVIEW UPDATE (8/27/12): The tension bar on the scissors has broken somehow. I almost never use the scissors so I'm not sure what happened, but the scissors no longer have the spring action function. I've spoken to Leatherman and they have assured me that the bar will be replaced under warranty so I'll just have to send it in for repair. The scissors are still razor sharp and cut well but they don't spring open anymore. Everything else the little Leatherman has been asked to do, it performed without hesitation. I would still recommend the Squirt PS4 to anyone in the market for a small multi-tool. Still 10/10 UPDATE 2 (07/23/2013): Leatherman has fantastic customer service. I sent in my broken Squirt (bent screwdriver and broken scissor bar) and they sent me a brand new one at no cost. I actually like these so much I bought another one to use while I sent the first one off to be repaired.

I've had this little Squirt PS4 on my keychain for a couple of weeks now and I have to say it does a great job. I don't like having a lot of keys and other stuff hanging from my keychain, so I replaced my bottle opener with the Squirt PS4 (it has a bottle opener on it). It is a little heavier than the bottle opener that it replaced, but way more useful and actually more compact in size. I'm usually carrying with my some kind of knife (Spyderco Delica 4, Cold Steel Recon 1, Kershaw Skyline, Spyderco Endura 4, etc) with me so the blade on this PS4 doesn't see much use. But all of the other tools seem to work very effectively. The scissors are smaller than the scissors on the older Squirt S4, but I find them still up to the job from cutting thread to cardboard and thin plastic containers. I was able to utilize the screwdrivers the other day to open up a server at work when I had forgotten to bring my screwdriver set with me (saved me 10 minutes of having to look for the set). I used to carry the Juice S2 with me, but with the Squirt PS4 and an additional knife I find myself very well equipped. So I moved the Juice to my EDC bag and have it available if there are bigger tasks required. The anodized handles are very nice too, I love the blue color and after a few weeks of rubbing around in my pockets with the keys and other loose items it shows absolutely no signs of wear. I figured by now it would have some kind of scratches, but it still looks brand new (that may change though who knows). The only con in this review is that I don't really like the blade on the knife. I mean it works alright, and I don't expect a lot out of such a small blade, but they only grinded one side. Not a big deal it still cuts things, I'm just not really a fan, which is why I carry another knife. I love this keychain multi-tool, I even bought one for my girlfriend (the red one), to replace her broken (scissors broke, tweezers got lost, etc) Swiss Army knife.

I had first purchased the Gerber Dime Multi-Tool, Green [31-001132 ]. After using it for a couple of weeks the handle broke while performing very minor wire cutting job. Luckily, with Prime I was able to send the Gerber back and purchase this Leatherman... What a difference. Where I loved the bottle opener as well as the cool color of the Gerber, the overall construction seems to be much better with this Leatherman. Just the feel alone leads you to the sound conclusion the this is the one to go with. I carry this multi-tool as an EDC and use it almost daily. You never realize how handy one can be until you actually have one on you all the time. Even though it is small in size, it feels able to tackle a considerable amount of jobs. You will not be hanging drywall with it but for the occasional screw that needs to be removed or small job needing scissors (which work well by the way), this little tool should have no problem handling the job. The file is very robust and blade is sharp. Also, the pliers seem to have pretty good clamping strength for those small jobs. All in all, I would recommend this tool to anyone. More importantly, I would recommend to carry any multi-tool. Currently, the Squirt is around $15 more than the Dime. If the Dime is as much as you are willing to spend on a small multi-tool, I would say get the Dime. If quality and function out way the price difference, I would strongly recommend the Squirt.

I've tried just about every name-brand keychain micro tool out there (thank you, TSA, for giving me the opportunity to buy a new replacement every time I fly). NONE is perfect. But this is just about as close as you can get. The best way for me to review this is to compare it to the next best option: the Gerber Dime. THE SHORT TAKE: The Leatherman Squirt PS4 is superior in construction and quality of materials. The Gerber Dime has unique and very useful tools. THE LONG TAKE: The Leatherman and the Gerber are very similar. They're compact, they have pliers and scissors, and their tools (knife, file, etc.) open AWAY from the keyring. If you use this tool on a keychain like I do, it's hard to overstate how important this last fact is. Many multi-tools have their tools mounted such that they pivot open on the same side as the keyring. This means you're grabbing on to a big wad of keys as the handle for your tool: not very effective. The Leatherman and the Gerber get it right, with tools pivoting open opposite of the keyring. This allows you to use the tool body as the handle, and affords much greater control. Of the tools shared between the Leatherman and the Gerber, the Leatherman's are just better in every way. The pliers are solid, and can be used for twisting, whereas the Gerber pliers had a lot of play and weren't very useful in that regard. The Leatherman's scissors are sharp, although very small. The Gerber's scissors are all but useless, as the gap between the two blades makes is nearly impossible to cut anything. The Leatherman's knife is properly shaped, and very sharp. The Gerber's starts out sharp enough, but dulls very quickly, and has a very weird tip to it. The other tools on the Leatherman are as expected - not very useful, but still better quality and implementation than the Gerber's. The Gerber has a couple of tools that I wish wish WISH the Leatherman had. First is the "retail package opener". I never realized I needed one of these until I had one and started using it. It is SO useful for so many things (like opening packages, surprisingly). Having one of these also allows you to save your blade for more important things (whatever those may be). The second tool is the externally-mounted bottle opener. It is so convenient for opening up my root beers. Yes, the Leatherman technically has one, but you have to open the tool up, flip it out, close the tool again, use it, and then reverse the process. Not to mention, it doesn't work very well. No assembly required for the Gerber. Just pull it out of your pocket, pop your top, and put it back. It literally saves SECONDS (I say that a little tongue-in-cheek, but really, it's so much nicer). SUMMARY: The Leatherman Squirt PS4 is very well built. It feels very tight. All the joints are solid and have little, if any, play. The knife is razor sharp, and keeps its edge. Being able to use the tools without unfolding the knife is a MUST, and the Leatherman delivers. Though I deeply miss a few of the tools found on the Gerber Dime (the retail package opener and external bottle opener), the quality is just not there. If the Leatherman and the Gerber had a baby, it would be THE 5-star keychain tool. Since inanimate object can't reproduce, I pick the Leatherman Squirt as my go-to all-rounder.

I purchased this multitool for backpacking. It's definitely not "ultralight" weight (56g, 2oz on my scale, ), but it's proven to be handy in the backcountry. And I've grown to like it so much that I've transitioned from a basic pocket knife to this on my non-backcountry days. I've used all the tools it offers except for the file... I use the knife most frequently, then the regular screwdriver/bottle opener, small screwdriver/"half" phillips, scissors, then pliers the least. The knife blade is a "chisel grind." Although this type of blade is common for woodworking/food preparation, specific for this tool, I wouldn't go beyond using it to fashion a marshmallow stick. I use it frequently for opening boxes... cellophane packaging, cutting moleskin/tape--for the tradeoff of size/weight, it's ideal for me. The screwdriver has held up well for lightduty driving, and prying. I use it most frequent for bottle opening. It will also open a can, although it doesn't have a sharpened edge for this use. The small screwdriver/half philips serves best for average sized philips screws. It can mate with very small slotted screws too (tapered at end). When in backcountry, I generally use the scissors to snip fly lines. It functions well for a more controlled cut to open a mylar bag (i.e. freeze dried food), although the knife works well too. The pliers are sturdy, will "square" up with a 1/2" nut/bolt well... It's spring loaded with a cutter that could cut large conductor wire... I primarily use it to dislodge the hook in the mouth of a backcountry trout! These fish are generally less than 12" long, so 2" of plier is usually plenty... My comment on this multitool is to highlight that it's small (2 x 3.2 x 3 in), and only 2 ounces! This is rarely a "primary" tool to do any job except maybe opening an amazon box... It'll get you out of a bind, save you a trip to to the garage (to get a better tool for the job), but hopefully folks weigh this weight/size tradeoff for function. It's surprisingly rigid, but keep low expectations for anything requiring much torque. One bad thing... I misplace it a lot--it's small, I'm forgetful, and I should have picked a color other than black! Hope my review proves useful to someone--take care!

I had a Squirt S4 for about 10 years. I loved it! It lived faithfully on my key ring and only left my side when I boarded an airplane. I had lost the tweezers, and the scissors were getting slightly dull... but it was still my faithful companion through life's ups and downs. Then one day my boyfriend borrowed my car to go to the airport. I forgot to take my beloved Squirt S4 off my key ring. And he forgot that one should not bring a pocket knife through security. So ended a long and beautiful friendship between a girl and her trusty Squirt S4. I thought I could replace it with the PS4. And while the PS4 is a wonderful tool...I can't help but notice that it's not my S4. I like having the pliers and the small scissors. But I'd rather have my full size scissors back. Sure... the PS4 is sleeker with the new matte finish, but it's not the same. My new PS4 now lives in the vacated spot on my key ring and does all sorts of handy things for me. Still, it cannot, and never will be, my good ol' S4. If you are lucky enough to never have experienced the love and loss of an S4 then you'll love the PS4. Squirts, of all types, really are handy little tools. They are also very small and convenient. I know that some guys proudly carry around their larger Leathermans in their humongous useful guy pockets. Alas, fashion dictates small useless pockets for us females. But why should that make me any less capable of fixing my own problems? I just bust out my handy little Squirt and can save myself before some guy and his big pocket knife steal my thunder. Granted, there are some things a larger Leatherman can do that my amazing little Squirt can't. But those situations have been few and far between in my entire love affair with my Squirt. I really couldn't be more madly in love with my little Squirt.

My father has carried always been accustomed to carry a leather-man on his key chain because it is simply an extremely useful tool to have on one's person. Two years ago, however, he walked right through airport security with his beloved Micra and had it confiscated (which was painful for the entire family as we had to listen to him grumble and gripe for the rest of the trip). Some time passed and, seeing that he still had not replaced his ill-fated Micra with a shiny new one, I began researching some of the newer tools on the market to surprise him with on his birthday. I quickly noticed that Leatherman was offering the "Squirt", which seemed like a nice upgrade to the scissor-central Micra tool he had always used. After weeks of research I decided yo go with the Squirt PS4 for a number of reasons: - Pliers WITH wire cutters. - Scissors to boot! - A sharp knife - The essential component in any man's tool: a bottle opener - Two different screwdrivers - a double sided file After having spent so much time researching the different tools available, I decided I couldn't live with myself if I didn't also own one of these beautifully crafted multi-tools. Naturally, I went with the PS4 as well and could not be happier with my choice. - Its weight makes a nice addition to my key chain. I can now feel more easily the presence of my keys in my pocket. - The pliers are high quality and precise. They work perfectly along with the wire cutters to change my acoustic guitar strings - something I had to use two sets of larger pliers to accomplish before. - The scissors are very sharp and very strong, as every other review here confirms. - The screwdrivers are a little tedious to use because of they are connected to the tool, but get the job done when there are no other tools available - The knife is sharp and perfect for those situations when a friend or coworker asks everyone in the room, "Anyone got a knife?" Luckily, you do. Not only will you impress the ladies with its sleek and sexy design but also the men with its sharp and strong blade. - Likewise, the bottle opener is a saviour when a real bottle opener is not available. It is certainly an emergency bottle opener and requires two or separate pulls on the bottle top's individual divets before the top can be removed. - On two separate occasions I have had different women exclaim about the need for a nail file; they are always pleasantly surprised when I whip it out! 5 Stars! I would buy this high quality multitool again in a heartbeat. It makes a great gift, too!

Leatherman ha hecho posible disminuir las dimensiones de sus herramientas y crear la Squirt PS4. Esta herramienta múltiple aunque es pequeña puede cumplir con diversas tareas y usarse diariamente como llavero o portarla en el bolsillo del pantalón. Todas las herramientas funcionan bien pero la herramienta más relevante son las pinzas, son delgadas pero robustas y pueden utilizarse con seguridad ya que tienen buen agarre y pueden inclusive cortar cables delgados. Esta es una herramienta sorprendente.

This is a very robust little multi-tool. While it may not have many tools it has enough to mkae it a valuable EDC addition to your kit. The knife is sharp out of the box and great for light utilitarian jobs. The scissors are excellent and have a great leaf spring action. The real winner is the set of pliers on the MT. It has a great spring system that is very strong and returns to an open setting, and is easily one hand manipulated. This is a much better option over the Gerber Dime which broke on me within weeks of light use. Yes this is more than 3 times the price, but it has already lasted 3 times as long. Buy once, cry once. A definite win here for Leatherman. -Squib

A great multi tool backed by a fabulous company! A precise little device able to take on many daily tasks and more. On top of the tight tolerances of this mini device, the backing of a fantastic customer service is second to none! Nicely anodized scales offer a very durable shell for the knife, scissors, the two drivers, and the file which can nearly sub in as a mini saw! Your ps4 can be anything you can put your mind to. It can assist with loose thread, the opener of your latest instant noodle discovery, or the savoir when you have a hangnail! It has now become my pistachio eating buddy, but the sky's the limit with this gem. When you're packing light for everyday life in the city, look no further... This powerhouse of a tool is a must have! 5 stars for this tool and Leatherman, the company that gives this handy tool a 25 year warranty!
