This book is life changingly awesome!
Wow, I can't say enough about this book!A little background on me: I did a bit of yoga study like, 18 years ago in college, then just fell out of practice. I continued a little here and there with some classes or a DVD workout, but haven't done anything for a few years. Deep down I have the heart of a yogi, but it wasn't a conscious practice for me. (Confirming you do NOT have to be a crazed yoga person to LOVE this book!) Then I found this book through my local book club and it just made my heart sing! I love every page in every chapter! I find myself rereading things and just sitting and thinking. It's fantastic! (I highly recommend getting the paper copy so you can underline and make notes - I've completely marked mine all up the first read through and 100% will be reading it again and looking forward to seeing what stuck out to me the first time around!) There are questions you can journal about, and daily affirmations at the end of each chapter to keep your thinking going. It's a perfect balance of translated information, real life examples and time to reflect to get what you need from it that day. This book is an absolute joy! It has helped me be a happier saner person. It's given me permission to not be perfect. It's inspired me to break out my yoga mat and breath. It's helped me work through the grief of losing my grandmother and helped me to better see who I am. Crazy I'm talking about a book, right? It's magical.I can't thank the author enough for putting this book out there. She is a wonderful person and is sparking a better life for so many people! I will definitely be following her career and picking up her future writings.

What I love about this book is how the author takes the ...
True Yoga is a book that I can read over and over again and still find something new to take away and apply to my life. Unlike other yoga books I have read in the past that get so caught up in the jargon, no one can understand...What I love about this book is how the author takes the 8 Limbs of Yoga and breaks them down into specific and authentic ways for the reader to understand and make connections to their daily life. Each chapter supports the reader with providing a section for Daily Practice (to help integrate the practice in your life), Questions for Further Reflection (to support reflecting on how this practice is currently showing up or not in your life) and Affirmations to Post and Remember (to help solidify beliefs in your subconscious). It is like having your own personal Yogi coach in a book. True Yoga is truly what yoga is all about: balancing the body, mind, and spirit to extend to its highest self. It is a wonderful gift you can give to yourself and others!!! I am so glad that I found it.

Easy to read and apply to life!
This book is a wonderfully written practical guide on how to approach life through all of its many challenges. I found it a joy to read and each chapter is well described with good examples making it very easy to follow and understand. I also like having the ability to refer back to practices and review questions at the end of each chapter whenever I’m faced with something new and difficult in my life.I learned how yoga is much more than postures and stretches on a mat and how to integrate yoga teachings, written thousands of years ago, into my life. It helps you understand simple yet powerful ways of walking through life happily and peacefully. I find I’m now much more at ease with challenges at work and in my relationships with coworkers and family members. It also shows how you can’t find long-term happiness by satisfying external desires and acquiring material things and that long-term happiness is only achieved from within and through your connection with the Divine. I’m grateful for this book and the new positive outlook I now have on life!

This book is so well written!!!
This book is a guide to life. It is a workbook. It not only explains these beautiful yogic concepts but gives daily practices of how to harness them and put them into practice in our every day. There are Affirmations, meditations, deep questions for further reflection and exercises to take out into the world to practice and play with the wisdom we uncover in ourselves through the Sutras. This book is so clear and straight forward. I have been doing yoga for 20 years, two years ago I did my teacher training. We dabbled in the Philosophical concepts in our training but it is very dense information and I felt like I learned a bunch of words I could barely pronounce and not much more. This book is awesome, it satisfies the intellectual and is really accessible.I have found opportunity to used what I have learned in this book parenting my three boys, in my marriage, at work and many other times when it has felt like the sky was falling.

Top Trusted Resource
This is one of the best books about Yoga. Jennie Lee changed my life with her books and teachings. She is one of the top, most-trusted resources in well-being and her books show it. I've had a chance to preview her upcoming book Spark Change and it too is brilliant. - Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino, Hay House author of PERCOLATE - Let Your Best Self Filter Through

As a yoga educator, I use the standard translations ...
As a yoga educator, I use the standard translations on the Yoga Sutras for my teacher trainings, but often my students find it difficult to understand. Jennie's book, True Yoga, has been a very helpful addition to my trainings and to my own spiritual growth. Her clear and effective examples and meditations make the sutras more relatable in our contemporary world.

When you are not quite ready for the rigorous discipline of a Self-realized master
If you have been approaching yoga as exercise and are starting to explore its deeper spiritual meaning, but are not quite ready for the rigorous discipline of the teachings of a fully Self-realized master, this book perfectly fits the bill. It is a bridge between yoga as exercise and beginning to understand yoga's true meaning: union of the individual consciousness with Universal Consciousness or, in religious terminology, union of the soul with God. If you find it too challenging to dive into Yogananda's writings, generally considered the modern Rosetta Stone of spiritual metaphysics, sit with this book a while. Jennie Lee will help you prepare for moving deeper into the real thing. As a coordinator of a yoga philosophy course I sincerely appreciate the unique niche this book fills and how well it does it.

On my level
I started reading this book 18 months ago after starting to practice yoga in a deeper way with my teacher who I check in with every three months. This book allowed me to understand the yoga sutras on a level that was really meaningful to me and I only moved onto the next chapter when I felt ready to do so. I have just finished the book at a time when I am starting to incorporate "sitting" into the end of my morning practice after I have completed pranayama. I am managing 7 mins at the moment but I know this will increase the more I practice. Thank you for assisting me in understanding the importance of yoga in my life.
