Great customer service from Hasbro, fun toy
DD (then 9 y.o.) had wanted a Nerf Rebelle bow for Christmas 2013, but somehow it didn't make the cut. (At the time it was sold out a lot of places, and the kid was not really lacking for presents without it.) On a whim, I got it for her in 2014, so it was a complete surprise, and the huge box had her stumped. :-)She left the room as I and her (adult) cousin were removing it from the box. Of course, being the curious children at heart that we are, we decided to try it as soon as we got it out. Put a dart in. Pulled the string back. And, ... nothing happened. :-( :-(I think that inside the body of the bow there is probably a little place that winds the string up for tension like a yo-yo. Well, this bow arrived defective. It looked fine from the outside, but there was no tension to propel anything out of it.So I ended up calling Hasbro - either Christmas day or the next day, I forget. I was hoping there was a way to open up the bow and just fix it, but the customer service rep said, no, and after she ran me through a few brief checks over the phone (you know, the sort of thing that verifies that there isn't a complete idiot on my end of the phone line and that the bow, not the customer, is defective) she asked if I'd just like to return it and exchange. Of course I had all the original packaging since the problem occurred right on opening, but I'm not sure anymore if that was a requirement. She emailed me a return label. I boxed everything back up, glued and taped the label on, and mailed it off to Hasbro. They sent us a replacement very shortly after they received the defective one back.I'm not sure why I went through Hasbro rather than Amazon on this, I think it was because my first thought was to see if it was something I could fix on my end, and once I was talking to the Hasbro rep, it just seemed easier. She was so helpful and sweet, and working during their busiest time. I can't say enough good things about her. I almost gave this a 4 star rating because it is fun, but not "wow, the best toy in the world" fun. And we did get a lemon originally. But Hasbro was so great about fixing the problem, and hey, it is a cool toy. I find myself wishing I had bought 2 so DD and I could have shooting contests without taking turns. One thing I like about this model is it uses the same darts as used in the Nerf gun that DD already had. Being able to mix and match the darts makes it so much easier and it should be easy to buy replacement darts for however long this bow lasts. And we may need some. When you're shooting darts 30 or 40 feet into un-raked grass, well, they can be difficult to spot. My advice: buy bright colored ones.

Good toy, read this review.
The Nerf Rebelle Bow arrived as a Christmas gift for a 6 year old girl. The girl is very tall for her age and the bow is sized well for her.Setup is simple. You slide the "arrow" holder into place on the bow, put arrows into the holder, and one into the front of the bow. The package tells you to draw on the bow until you see a yellow indicator. I did not do this at first as I saw no picture of what they were talking about and feared that I was going to break the bow if I drew back too far. The arrows barely left the bow and it was disappointing to say the least after a few attempts. Time to try something different.I drew the bow string back farther and there it was; a little yellow plastic indicator telling me that I drew back far enough. It's on the string that comes out of the bow parallel to the floor. The arrow flew across and out of the room, entering the kitchen and of course, hit the wall at the sink falling into the garbage disposal. I fished it out and was impressed with the distance. The six year old has a bit of trouble with the bow but she has to learn technique and patience. Overall she is happy with it and all who have seen it shoot (by my hand as I'm the closest to an archer) have been impressed with distance and accuracy. I recommend this toy.
