This cushion provides the wedge to keep the knees lower than your hips. It is a good solid piece of foam and a good size. It will be great for recuperating after hip surgery!

I've suffered with chronic back pain for some time. When I rise from a chair, I hurt, and found sitting on the floor left me nearly crippled when I tried to get up and walk. I researched how to make sitting on the floor more comfortable and found this simple little wedge as the solution. It's pretty basic, made out of styrofoam similar to a foam roller. The idea is to sit so that the higher part of the wedge is toward the back and you have a slight forward tilt, the curvature of the lower back is maintained and you keep a good posture. Feels so great to be able to stand up and not hurt anymore. Another step toward living pain free.

This little wedge has literally taken me from extreme pain sitting to being able to sit again. I have severe nerve pain down my leg and into my foot from a twisted spine. In the last month I have been unable to sit for more than 5 minutes at a time because of the pain, and was becoming exhausted. Prescription painkiller didn’t help. I tried this foam wedge as a last resort, and now I can sit NO PROBLEM with no pain!! I don’t know why this works, but it has changed everything for me. I can sit in a restaurant now for lunch, go for coffee etc, things which I had to give up. I’m forever grateful!

There is only one reason you would want such a wedge cushion: to help you to more perfect balance while sitting (not to cushion the tush) and thus perhaps to reduce back pain and stress you might experience. Thus there are only 2 requisites: (1) It must have an angle sufficient to tilt the body forward and (2) it must be firm enough so that such an adequate angle is not lost when putting the body's heavy weight on it. I have tried all of the wedge cushions offered anywhere and they all fail this test --- with the exception of the Core 5405. It is as close to perfect as it gets. I would love to see a version that is covered in fabric, since the foam can show signs of edge wear over time if it is not covered.
