GBD-200-2ER Montre Homme

I was looking for a watch that did step counting in a discrete way but still looks like a watch. This Casio fits the bill perfectly. I have several g-shocks watches as I am pretty clumsy and always forget to take them off in the shower. This is a good looking sport style watch in my opinion, the reverse display is surprisingly clear. I personally don't use the Bluetooth for notifications so only turn it in to sync the watch occasionally. The step counter works broadly as accurately as others I have tried. The setup is a little fiddly so read the manual! The writing on the face for the button functions is a little small but this is a minor quibble. Over all the watch suits my needs and offers good value for money.

So if you are looking for Apple Watch levels of functionality, then look elsewhere. But to compare the two watches would be missing the point entirely because they fulfil two very different briefs. Where this device shines is that it is no bigger than a “dumb” g shock watch but yet brings with it Bluetooth connectivity which then allows the watch to offer basic health data as well as basic notification support. In addition to this you get a great new almost like reversed e paper type display which is easy to read in any light, but also unlike an Apple Watch which in most circumstances barely lasts the day, this will easily last weeks of heavy use, maybe even months with light use, all of this bolstered with the usual g shock standards of rugged ability. Highly recommended even in this unusual shade of blue which is even better in person than the pictures give it credit for!

As a watch collector with Omega, Cartier, Rolex and many others you just have to have G-shock watches in your collection. This watch is just amazing the screen is so easy to read even with these 59 year old eyes. You can even read it when it is quite dark. The stop watch is disappointing because it is in full seconds and not hundreds of a second. Love this watch just love it.

Great combination of G-Shock and sport watch. This was all I wanted. Display is very good in all light conditions and numbers are big enough for me to see without glasses. The phone connection and app is a little bonus. Also it's possible to read messages and see who's calling although for the messages I need my glasses, the text is on the very small side. But I didn't buy this watch to read text messages anyway so I don't care. And finally the watch looks great. I've got the blue colour and I love it. Thanks.

The blue is bold, and the screen is fantastic. I set it to display the main time in big numerals. Bluetooth works (when you wear the watch) to get the accurate time from your phone. I don't need the fitness stuff (and suspect it might be too fiddly if I did) - all I wanted was a highly accurate, boldly blue g-shock with the best screen you can get. My fave gShock. Recommended.

The GBD-200 series features a new 'Memory in Pixel' negative display which is truly amazing. It stays visible under extreme angles and doesn't produce shadows. This feature alone might be a reason to buy it if the price is right. I also like the Windows style menu's that you can scroll trough when doing the watch set-up. It deviates from the standard Casio set-up, but it is very intuitive. This watch is marketed by Casio as a sports watch. It has an automatic step counter that resets at midnight every day. So far so good. Now for the bad news: To get the maximum out of the watch, it is supported by bluetooth to connect it with your mobile phone. You are required to install two Casio apps, one generic Casio Watches app and a workout app. These apps make you to scroll through 25 pages of legal and privacy related text. In short: you sign away all your rights. You are required to share your location, to have an account with Casio and register your watch with Casio. If you don't, the bluetooth function is useless. You always need to do manual time adjustments without bluetooth. This is not made clear before purchase and the instruction manual doesn't say anything about pairing the watch with you phone. Nothing. Judging by the amount of Youtube videos on this topic, there seems to be a lot of difficulty in getting the watch paired with the phone. I wasn't able to do it and didn't get a reply on my support request. And without Tough Solar the battery will drain fast as well. So, that explains my 2 star rating for this watch.
