Nice low frequency response for a good price
I bought this sub as a much-needed upgrade from my polk psw108 that i got a few years ago. I have been upgrading my sound system slowly and it was high time to get a good subwoofer. I did a lot of research and many people pointed to the SVS subs.I do a mix of movie watching and music listening with my sound system. The first thing I did after hooking the sub up and calibrating it was listen to some music. I tried a few bass-filled songs. They sounded great on this sub! They were nice and clear and filled the room well. Not muddy at all. After listening to music I decided to run a subwoofer test. This test ran a bunch of frequencies through the sub to test its response. When it started playing it felt like someone was grabbing my head and shaking it. This sub can hit low and hit it hard.I haven't had much chance to watch any loud action movies with it yet, but I have no doubt it should be able to handle it. I definitely like the sub so far, and will most likely order a second one in time.EDIT:I bought a second subwoofer, and it sounds fantastic! It's kinda funny because at one point I updated the firmware in my receiver and it messed up my settings without me realizing it until I tried to watch movie and the sub sounded awful. So in my attempt to determine the problem I turned my subs way up and all the windows in my house shook. These subs are fantastic and definitely worth it.

A Great Start
I wanted to break these in for a while before I gave an honest review of them. In my opinion, you really need two subwoofers to really tell how good they are, not because of added loudness, but for a more even distribution of bass throughout your room. You will always have peaks and nulls in your room if you only have one subwoofer, it doesn't matter how big or good it is.Now on to the actual review, these subwoofers are amazing for their size and cost. I have never heard a 10in subwoofer capable of doing what this can, and so smoothly (it's better than most 12 inchers on the market). Most subwoofers that I am more used to have peaks and then fall off a cliff starting around 30hz, this goes flat down to 20hz before starting to fall off around 17-18hz. While the original 1000 series may have been replaced by the new 1000pro series, I believe these are a better value since SVS has decided to increase the pricing on their other models by about $200-300. While $500 may sound a bit steep, just buy them, you're essentially getting audiophile bass that you just won't find in the $200-400 range (infact, there are still subwoofer that cost more than this one that aren't as good). If I could say one caveat, I do believe that this subwoofer and the SB1000 could be $100 less given that the old PB12-nsd and SB12-nsd were the same price and lower, and were between these units and the original 2000 series. They sound great with both music and movies and they definitely come alive when the source calls for it without being overpowering. I could run them much hotter than I currently have them but I'd be worried about things falling off the walls or damaging something. I haven't really noticed any port noise coming from them, which is a plus because that can really take you out of what you're trying to watch or listen to (something that plagues lower end subs). The sub is articulate enough to work with most genres of music, but the sealed SB1000 maybe the better option for those that listen to music more than watching movies. I think that these subs are fantastic and would be a great addition to anyone that wants to get into having great sound (just remember to buy atleast two).

Deep bass and very powerful
I pushed my old bose sub to its limit and it started smoking and died. After a couple months of research I made the jump to this bad boy. The low end is fantastic on this unit and it’s got way more power than I need. I leave it on 1/4 power and it’s got wayyyyyyyyyyy more power to push. It really shines with cinema but I mostly use it for music. I listen to lots of electronic music (bass heavy glitch, trap, deep dub, house, techno, etc.) and this unit had the power to punch those deep notes home. It does a good job of filling my entire room with bass.It will really make you want to buy even higher end sound equipment to keep up with it.Very solid build, and looks great. I use it as a shelf for some electronic equipment and it’s vibrations are very controlled in the box. It will definitely shake the walls though. If you love low end sounds then grab this. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.First SVS product that I’ve owned and I’m sold on the brand. Eventually want to convert the rest of my speakers over

This is what bass is supposed to sound like for movies and music.
Perfect in every way for my space. This is the 3rd sub I've owned. HSU, Infinity Primus now SVS. Infinity was a 12" the others are 10" and the quality of bass from the 10s is alarmingly better than the 12".The secret to a great sub has more to do with bass clarity, and speration from biggest explosions to deepest Reggae. We are so used to rumbling bass that we think it's normal. It's not.The sub is equally good for music and movies. It's bass fast...machine gun fire so clear you can hear each round, fast bass hit in music are equally deep, clear and separate. You can't hear it before you buy because they are an internet company. I've listened to as many subs in stores as I could find and I can tell you that NOTHING that I came across in a store is as good as this.I've owned HSU 10" sub knew that SVS is as good if not better. They did not sell 10" subs anymore so I immediately went to SVS and got one.Worth every penny.
