Flavor Name:Estate Java Grown on the island of Java, this bean is low in acidity and produces a rich, buttery brew with a sweet aroma. It does not contain the same earthiness indicative of most Indonesian coffees. Instead, it features a broad, smooth body and delicate floral notes. This bean has an exceptional & complex flavor profile and is perfect for drip coffeemakers, pour over, French press, percolator, and reusable coffee pods

Okay everybody, this is my absolute favorite coffee. For the price, this is probably the most luxurious coffee that you can get. It is dark and rich, smells amazing, and tastes very smooth. There is absolutely zero bitterness. My only complaint is with the 5lb packaging. It is hard to open, and isn't resealable. This is a good thing if you are shipping coffee all over the world, but the fact that it isn't resealable makes it a pain in the butt if you are living out of a foot locker in Afghanistan and trying to keep 5 lbs of coffee fresh. The fact that this stuff smells so amazing in my french press and anybody that walks by is trying to score some from me makes it not last as long so it hasn't been too much of a worry. Open with a knife, roll down the top, and gorilla tape shut and all is good in the world. This coffee is life changing!

Velvety, Rich, Dark Sumatran Decaf.
FULL of flavor, full of body, but hardly bitter. Do you like the tannin filled richness in a nice Cab Sauv Red? Or the depth of a dark red sweet cherry? IMO this is the coffee version. I often see various coffee descriptions with "chocolate and or Cherry/berry" etc. but then don't get what they are saying. I think you'll actually GET IT ! with this. ( I don't like flavored coffee BTW, that's not what I'm talking about). My wife and I indulge in a Cafe Trebol Costa Rican daily roasted at Market Centrale in San Jose (bring some back for me!) and this Sumatran Decafe after dinner. We use pour over method fresh ground almost espresso to extract as much richness as possible. We are completely satisfied with this purchase and will continue. I'd love to hear YOUR thoughts.

It's not their mocha java but still good
I am an admitted coffee snob.. been ordering from Coffee bean direct since 2005. Since coronaphobia struck, they've not brought back all their flavors. This is the lowest acid, not dark roast coffee they have. It's good.. nice body. I just prefer the mocha java style.

l both of us love this coffee!
So glad I took the plunge after hearing about this coffee. It has the smoothest taste. No bitterness at the end of a sip. Dark enough and the flavor! We already bought our second bag!It has been a while since buying this coffee and my opinion is the same after trying several others. Much better then Peets. We bother are sort of coffee addicts and this sure is the best ever. The only thing is the price. Wish it cost less. That makes we search for other coffees to see is there is an as good or near as good brand that satisfies.

Coffee Beans Not Fresh
I love this brand and type of coffee, but these coffee beans were old! I love fresh coffee especially this type, but have never had coffee beans so old. I was very very disappointed and to top it off, unable to return. So disappointed, was not fresh and did not

Smooth and Great Bodied Coffee.
I really do like these coffee beans. The coffee is flavorful and delish! They are a very good value. I have it on Subscribe and Save which helps to reduce the price.I mix chicory (2-1 - coffee to chickory) in with the ground coffee. Frontier Natural Products Organic Roasted Chicory Root Granules is available on Amazon. This dark roast coffee is low in acid and the chicory adds a smooth taste and robustness without extra calories. It has a rich chocolatey undertone.Chicory is also good for you. According to Web M.D. " Chicory is a plant. Its roots and dried, above-ground parts are used to make medicine.Chicory is used for loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, liver and gallbladder disorders, cancer, and rapid heartbeat. It is also used as a “tonic,” to increase urine production, to protect the liver, and to balance the stimulant effect of coffee".So if you looking for a great, flavorful, healthy and cost effective cup of coffee, Coffee Bean Direct Sumatra Mandheling is a sure bet. Disappointing cup of coffee
This is the second and last time I purchase this brand of coffee. I wanted to give it one more chance and once again I was disappointed with my purchase. I didn’t find the coffee to be a dark roast at all and I find that I have to add a couple of extra scoops in just to get some flavor out of it. I had high hopes for this roast Dark Sumatra but as I said it was a big disappointment. This will be my last purchase from this coffee company.

Good medium roast in an Aero Press, but . . .
In an Aero Press, ground fine, makes an enjoyable cup. I would say this is a medium roast, maybe right on the line between medium and dark. The beans look dark but the ground coffee and flavor is more medium. The flavor out of the Aero Press is mild, with some hints of rich aftertone flavors, not without interest.Note well however, that in a French press or drip maker, for some reason very little flavor comes through and it's pretty anemic and forgettable, no matter how much grounds you use. I haven't come across too many coffees that have such different results with these different brewing methods.Thing is, I got it for the French press, whole bean in order to grind it fairly coarse. All the store bought decaf in my area (Southern Cal.) is already ground, just hard to find whole bean decaf. My favorite is Peet's decafs, some of them are quite excellent, but they grind them into practically powder. This doesn't work well in a French Press which needs a coarser grind if you hope to be able to press down without a 100lb weight. (A French press is a bit easier if you are making coffee for two or three people, the Aero Press is really a solo cup maker.)So in short for the Aero Press I will probably prefer a darker Peet's or Starbucks Cafe Verona. However this is a perfectly good choice for a more medium roast if are using an Aero Press.
