Mastering Autodesk Maya 2015

This is my first book I have bought from Todd Palamar and my first book I have bought about Maya. After 8 years of using 3D software I am finally transitioning to Maya. This book is amazing.. I have read about 450pgs now. Each page is full of mini tutorials that get you moving all across the program. Each tutorial has a scene file that is associated with it via a download. This book will not teach you what every single button does.. but it will teach you how to use the editors and get going. Maya is a huge program. Its like going to walmart and finding something new.. you have been there a million times and still find something new.. well this book is like a guide through all the isles and what they sell.. If you are looking for a good book this is it.

Good resource. Short video tutorials that come with the book are helpful - I share them with student for additional self-guided learning.

Poor examples, lacklustre explanation of the tools. In many instances even less helpful than the help file for maya.At best this is a paint by the numbers to make simple maya contraptions. Might be sufficient for a beginner but will by no means make anyone a master.

Just what the doctor ordered. Advanced training on the topics you need to get going with Maya.You should definitely go through "Introduction to Maya" first, which is more entry level concept and utilization training butonce you reach this book the doors to what you can do with this software really start to open up.The title is probably a little over the top though...Mastering this or any software is a matter of training, learning the concepts through small projects, and then it's up to theuser to take that knowledge and start applying it in any number of ways to their own work.Remember, it took years for you to master a pencil...and mastery didn't mean you could draw a Sistine Chapel-like image.That, takes practice...practice...practice.

This Book goes though every aspect of Maya to a detailed level, I would say it's for the intermediate user however beginners can get a real insight and learn much from this book given the time and patience. Many people find Maya daunting at first but don't let that get you down, take as much time as you need on each chapter & if something seems a bit difficult read up on the topic and keep revisiting it to better your understanding there are several ways to learn and remember things find a way that you find most comfortable like making notes or teaching it to a classmate but most importantly by trying it out yourself.

Best guide to pick up the main features of Maya. I have used max and needed something to transition to maya as well to broaden my skill base. All exercises are available electronically. Excellent book. The e-book does have the advantage of full colour verses the book which is black and white.

Maya is an amazing bit of software and this book will take me forward in my knowledge in a very concise manner. It's a fantastic 3D reference book.
