Becoming Jo

A hit with the 11-year old!
Bought as a present for a young girl of eleven, I have just received the most wonderful postcard of thanks which I shall copy out here:Thank you very much for the book. I loved it so much I have decided to write you a review of it. The modern telling of Little Women, Becoming Jo was about four sisters whose dad had gone off in the army. Did you know that instead of writing the book about 'Rachel & Roderigo' by hand on paper, Jo wrote it on a laptop and instead of Amy burning it in a fire she deletes the file from Jo's computer! I really enjoyed the book and it is definitely one of my favourites.

AMAZING
This book put a modern spin on Little Women and was like a breath of fresh air compared to the other romantic books I have been reading. It really does prove that all the characters and adventures are classic and timeless. The only thing I would doubt is that this book destroyed the persona I imagined of Aunt Em into someone softer and nicer. This collapsed my strict, firm image that I had of her, but I enjoyed seeing another side to her nonetheless.

WOW!!!
I loved the story and the modern take. The drama (especially when Beth was diagnosed with cancer) had me leaning on the edge of my seat. The emotions that were felt tugged at my heartstrings. A wonderful book. I am glad everything worked out and n the end.

YA retelling of Little Women
Really not my cup of tea - characters were pretty one-dimensional and so unaware.
