Tools of the Ancient Greeks: A Kid's Guide to the History & Science of Life in Ancient Greece

Great homeschool curriculum
What a great light textbook. My daughter is in 6th grade and I ended having to homeschool her this year. We chose Greek history to study as she was sort of interested in it. The text isn't very long, only 10 chapters but it has 15 fun activities that coincide with the chapter topic. I love that my daughter now likes history and looks forward to the weekly activity like making baklava (BTW make half of the syrup it calls for), creating pottery, drama masks, and writing a letter in Greek letters.

Has lots of interesting things in here
Not what I thought I was getting. Bought this hoping it would have more stuff on archimedes and his inventions (saw pic of catapult). But after going through it it's really cool... definitely glad we bought. Reading it now

Excellent book
Tools of the Ancient Greeks: A Kid's Guide to the History & Science of Life in Ancient Greece (Tools of Discovery series)This is a great book that can be digested bit by bit by a younger reader and read quickly by an older child. Both will find it interesting. We plan to be in Greece for over 2 months and this will be a useful tool fo them to learn more and use their imagination about Greece.

An excellent teaching aid! Homeschool alert!
THis was a favorite of my daughter's. Especially the recipe for Baklava! IT was delicious. I purchased both as support material for our study of Ancient Rome and Greece and enjoyed them volumes. The information was presented well and the activities were worthwhile. Highly recommend!

please note correction
Happy to see that there is still interest from some authors to promote Ancient Hellas' history to younger generations as they have very much to learn from. I gave this book 3 stars because the author has made some assumptions that passes on as facts. Hellenes did not receive their name from Helen of Troy (or Sparta more precisely) but from Hellene, son of Deucalion who was Zeus' proffered survivor of the Hellenic Great Flood myth.

Amazing
Love how you get to know about the Greeks. It is good to know the difference between different gods. Love it.

Disappointed by the poor quality of the images
The book seems nice but I was very disappointed by the fact that it is in black and white. Being a book for kids, I would have expected it to be more appealing. And honestly, for the price you do expect more. I guess it was my mistakes, I assumed from the cover that it would be colorful. That's my reason for taking off two stars.

Love it
Great information source for older kids, and fun but doable activities. I also appreciate that although genitalia was often depicted in artwork back then, it isn't shown in this book. History shouldn't have to be pornographic for kids, so thank you for that. ;)

excellent source of information and understandably written for 9 year old
I bought this book as my son is learning Ancient Greeks this term. We needed this book for search of his various topic homeworks. It is a great book. We have read it, re-read it and used the activities. I would recommend it to all the parents and children who learn about Ancient Greece.
