A great kit with good quality tools and materials, and plenty of spare space in the well made wooden box to add additional materials.If you're looking for a starter kit, I'd recommend spending the extra money on something like this, over the cheaper lower quality kits available. The tools and most importantly the vice are good quality which will last you longer and allow you to tie more complex patterns as your skills grow. The materials are not cheap either and there is everything you need to get going.

I got this for my husband last Christmas, and it is still a major part of his day. It is easily portable and brilliantly organized - he spent a full week setting it up with the bits and pieces exactly where he wanted them to be. The vise is well-made and easy to position, and the materials are top quality. He started a fly-dressing class because he finally had a kit that let him quickly and easily match patterns or experiment with his own. The group are suggesting he becomes a tutor now too! So, definitely give this item a try. Who knows where it might take you!

Unsure of quality of hooks, no tying silk to get started so unable to make any fly’s… little disappointed.

My wife brought this for me to help rekindle my interest in fly fishing. Having never tied a fly of my own this kit has really recreated an ambition of catching a trout on a fly I have tied myself. No excuses now as this well made and put together kit has everything I will need to do the job and give me many hours of fun in the future all in a lovely well built wooden case with lift out drawers. A place for everything and everything in it's place.

Really pleased with the fly tying kit as it was a Birthday present.It arrived earlier than expected which was great.Everything needed came in a lovely wooden box.Would definitely recommend this.

I brought the kit as im a beginner at tying flies and I specifically want to tye pike flies. The materials in the kit are mainly geared for smaller flies. I do fly fish for trout occasionally so I'm sure it will come in handy. I did do a imitation dog biscuit for Carp as i fish all manner of style's. I was able to use some of the materials for pike flies but I knew what I was buying so therefore knew I would need specific materials for pike flies so this is not a critasium. However I cant fault the kit because if I had brought all the items separate it worked out a lot more expensive and as a bounous I get a really hand storage box which is well put together. My only criticism is as a beginner it would have been beneficial to lable the materials so when I watch a video of a particular fly it would be easier to know if I have the relevant materials and figure out what else I may need. But overall I think you get quite a bit of everything to get you started. And like anything we start we add to as its impossible to ever buy a kit that will have all your needs and preferences. Like I say a very small negative but overall would definatly recommend.
