Lovely and heart breaking
You don’t always come across stories about friendship in a book about love. And yet this novel does just that, shows us how love and friendship are so tightly bound that they can’t be separated

A love story, but not a love story. And I loved this story.
In Five Years, A thing we've been asked about in interviews. And we respond with the plan we have long curated for ourselves, A pitch-perfect plan. But, what if someone tells you what exactly you'll be doing at the same time Five Years from now, and it doesn't make sense because it is not in your Long term plan. And that is where the story (or I'd say the spiral of time) begins.Dannie, A dedicated, professional, planned and concrete human being (Some of us could say A ROBOT) is doing well in her life at the instant, going for an interview in her dream firm to work as an associate lawyer, a stable relationship with a perfect boyfriend and a crazy-ass cool Best Friend. But things take a turn when she suddenly finds herself in a situation, Five Years from now and her life is changed, the guy is not her boyfriend, and it's not her apartment or the one she planned to be in Five Years from her time. (Not going toward spoilers!!)This is about Dannie, but as it is quoted about this book:"It is love story... but not the love story you're expecting."So it is not actually a love story of the sorts of relationship, but it does talk about love. Love in it's true sense, not a calculated compatibility test score, or alignment of life goals, but the one that could make you feel like everything makes sense even if it is chaotic. The focus of the book is towards Friendship, Childhood friendship of Dannie and Bella. Both of them are very different but they are a crucial part of their life. Dannie acts like a strict mother to a spoiler rich kid, Bella. I liked their friendship, but their romantic relationship was sidelined. It feels like the story with David and Aaron deserved more spotlight, the book throws a "love story" vibe for sure. Both of them were discussed and had their major share, but to be honest it demanded more of it. There were parts where it took some heat, but it went bleh! later on. But that could be justified by the character of Dannie.I liked this book, especially in the last quarter this book took up pace and got very interesting. Third quarter was a bit bland, and first half of the book was foundation and paving the way.

Such a beautiful story on life and relationships
It's best to let go and do what your heart tells you. Every second of your life cannot be predetermined. Machine-like efficiency is not what we're wired for. Our purpose in life is to follow our intuition and enjoy every second of this amazing existence. This is not your typical love story. Dannie's (the protagonist) life changes for the better, as soon as she realises she just has one life and she needs to live it and not plan everything in numbers. This is a book you won't come to regret. I would rank it among the best books I've ever encountered. The lesson here is clear: YOLO - You Only Live Once. Live every moment. Just stop trying to control everything. Try to laugh more, love more deeply, and follow your heart.

It was a little disappointing
I might be in the minority because I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. If you haven’t read this and want to, you should stop right here in case you don’t want any spoilers. It’s like One day in December all over again except the part where the MCs don’t really end up together in this one. The FMC got engaged but while celebrating, she fell asleep and saw her future 5 years later in which she was with someone else. When she woke up in the present, she felt disoriented and so for four years, the wedding never happened only for the man she saw in her sleep to show up as her best friend’s boyfriend. There were so many things that I didn’t like especially the way the FMC treated her fiancé till the end. I did like certain things about this book like the friendship, albeit it was kinda messy tbh, but there were certain lines that I felt that the FMC shouldn’t have crossed which is why it’s a 3.5⭐️ read for me.

Beautiful story about love, but not what you think.
I would like to thank @quercusbooks and @netgalley for providing me an e ARC in exchange for an honest review for the book "In Five Years" by Rebecca Serle."You mistake love. You think it has to have a future in order to matter, but it doesn't. It is the only thing that does not need to become at all. It matters only insofar as it exists. Here. Now. Love doesn't require a future." Dannie believes in living by numbers and has her life mapped out perfectly with her perfect boyfriend David. Everything is planned perfectly, her dream job, when to be engaged and when to be married. On the day of her interview at her dream job (a top law firm) her boyfriend proposes and everything is perfect. They come home and Dannie falls asleep only to wake up in a different apartment, with a different man and a different ring on her finger. The TV shows the date 5 years from now, 15 Dec 2025. She wakes up confused in the present 2020 and doesn't give much thought to the vision even though everything felt so real that she is shaken. She had felt every moment of it, but being the kind of person she was she puts it at the back of her mind and life continues exactly as planned with her dream job and being engaged to David in their dream house, until 4 and a half years later she comes face to face with the man from her dream!I loved the book and finished it in one sitting. I wasn't prepared for that ending. I thought it was a love story, but I was wrong, it is a love story, but not the love story you expect. It is full of love, joy, friendship and heartbreak and makes you wonder about destiny. I just couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I would recommend you buy this book, its beautiful. The book comes out in March #InFiveYears #NetGalley
