Actions: The Actors' Thesaurus

I doing a score using transitive verbs in acting, this small and well organized book is invaluable. I like how the verbs are grouped according to their intent. You can get a definition (if it is on Kindle) by just clicking on verb. Also, it is very useful as a thesaurus, if you are looking for a fine definition of a particular action or transitive verb. Well worth it. Highly recommended.

I purchased this book about 10 years ago when I was in collage for Theater and Performing arts, strudying practical aesthetics. I did not finish the program, but kept the book and stay active in community theater -- And it has really helped me and some cast mates work through some tough characters and stories. I reccomend it to anyone interested in hoaning the craft: It's very useful!

This is a concise and practical handbook to aid actors in determining the movement and motivation of their characters. It’s a slim volume, narrowly shaped, and fits easily among your bulky items in a backpack or even the front pocket of your hoodie. As a poet, I also find this thesaurus-style handbook useful to explore language.

This is a must have for any actor, I use this thing all is the time. Absolutely amazing book

The proposed approach offers a valuable way into looking at one's script. The breakdown while not always obvious is very insightful and useful in helping the actor navigate the intricacies of texts that are not always straightforward. I just feel that too much breakdown can get tedious and say times counterproductive. Props on having an app to help with this.... An Android version would be most welcome

This book helped me take my acting to the next level by doing beat work and finding the best tactics for my beats. There are so many action verbs in here, it’s an amazing tool for the actors toolbox. This is my second copy as my first one fell apart from taking it everywhere with me. Definitely worth it.

This book is so dope. I am now able to read script as well as visualize what the actors are doing exactly according to the examples that the book has provided.This book allows you to take simple script that has no direction and apply any sort of action to a script therefore you no longer have to sit and wonder how are you going to play this out.This book gives you the ability and the words to play any scene... And most importantly every line in the scene with a different action.You can have the same scene as 20 different people & no longer have to play the same scene as everyone else because every sentence in your scene can be a different action which also gives you a head up on a competition because simply... no one else is doing this!

I'm a writer, not an actor, but I found this thesaurus amazing. It's different from a regular thesaurus which is basically word replacement. It's so helpful in imagining actions and putting them into unique words.
