Leo's Mighty Adventure

I saw this book at a friend's and wanted to order my own copy. The artwork is beautiful. The story is simple and would offer comfort to a child who finds himself in time out. There's an emphasis on color recognition in the first paragraph. "Leo was stuck in time-out again. He had already played with his red fire truck, his yellow dump truck, and his blue toy train." The colors throughout are so vibrant that a parent reading to a child could easily emphasis color recognition. Children will love the repetition and might want to model how very polite Leo asks questions. Since Leo travels to a zoo in his imagination while he's in time out, a parent could also quiz on the name of zoo animals. Suitable for young children with parents as readers and for early readers themselves, even the grandmotherly type, like me, will enjoy the effectiveness of the story and the richness of the artistic details. I bought this book for myself. I like to surround myself with beautiful things. Amazon's "Look Inside" doesn't do the book justice since the paintings cover both pages and the "Look Inside" shows a page at a time. Jean Davis
