BPD book
I've been reading this book for a little bit now. So far, I am really enjoying it. It talks about borderline personality disorder and what it's like to have it. Very detailed and explains in depth. I'd say it's definitely worth the read.

Prejudiced, and not up to date with current findings
This is the fourth book that I read on this subject. I have also watched numerous videos on the issue, including several featuring Marsha Linehan. I found that the authors know a lot about the subject, but I do not enjoy their language and find the information outdated. For example, although the rest of the current literature states that BPD is not any more prevalent amongst women than it is amongst men (with studies to support this statement), this book says otherwise. Also, I decided to drop this read when I saw that they refer to the person with BPD as "the victim". Finally, having a close relative with BPD, and knowing that they did not suffer violence during their childhood, the fact that the author insists on the wrongful stigma, threw me off. Overall, there is much better literature out there on this subject, I would suggest to keep looking, and do not stop here

Fantastic Read.
If you have a loved one with BPD, this book really helps. It outlines the reasons and symptoms behind their behavior, and explains how to avoid engaging with their behavior further. My therapist recommended it to me and it has been so helpful for the healing process.

Mind-Blowing for Readers Unfamiliar with the Disorder
I definitely recommend this as a place to start if you or someone you know is dealing with BPD. The book is written for a general audience and doesn't require any formal experience with psychology for therapy. The book is full of anecdotes describing the disorder, in addition to the DSM criteria and formal research information about treatment options. The anecdotes are really important because BPD behavior is all over the place, manifesting differently from patient to patient. If you or someone you know suffers from BPD, you'll find that some of the anecdotes are irrelevant, but others are so hauntingly similar to your own life that you'll swear you wrote them yourself. This book is also pleasantly up-to-date. I'm reading another book now that was published in 2003, and the major difference that I notice is that the prognosis for fixing BPD is a lot more optimistic than it used to be. The 2003 book paints BPD as a very challenging disorder, resistant to treatment. This book is more optimistic, and has data to back that optimism up.

Borderline Society! How current culture and practices affect our mental health.
I bought this at the suggestion of Prof.Dr. Anil Kumar of "Manasa", the Head of Psychiatry at Ernakulam Medical College. This is a great book, and apart form seeing the Borderline Personality as an individual issue, the authors have highlighted it as a societal issue in Chapter 4, titled "The Borderline Society", explaining how our current culture and practices and outlook along with expectations can affect our mental health in a negative way and can make us sick. It explains how child abuse, increasing divorces, the frequent moves associated with work or otherwise, and the permissive child-rearing practices are creating a society with more individuals who are sick and can limit the "progress". Highly recommended for the lay person and professionals!
