One of those secrets we never knew about!!
This is my first time using an essence, so I don't have anything to compare this to, but I absolutely love this one, and now I see what all the hype is about with using an essence in your routine. This is one of those secrets we never knew about growing up. It comes in a glass bottle and has a small seal. The top twists itself closed, so it locks all that goodness in the bottle. However, I would recommend keeping the small plastic seal to cover the hole, just to ensure everything is definitely sealed in there. I made the mistake of throwing it away the first time I ordered this, but ever since I make sure to keep the seal. First off, as someone else mentioned in their review, it's somewhat difficult to apply since it has no pump or method to apply it. You literally have to drip it into the palm of your hand. I found the easiest method is to drip it, then pat your hands together and then gently slap it onto your entire face. They recommend tapping it into your skin with your fingers as it gets absorbed better. So I pat it on my entire face and then work it in with my fingers like I'm playing the piano. Don't be alarmed if your face goes slightly red at first. I panicked on the first day as after working it into my face it seemed to literally reveal things that were underneath my skin (problem areas) like red dots which I think was future acne that would eventually come to the surface, but it was just brief, like seconds, and that just told me it was doing something, actually working deeper into my skin. I haven't had any acne breakouts at all in the weeks of using this. In fact, the complete opposite. I would go so far as to say that maybe this is what's preventing my acne, whatever's in it. It has a slight fermented smell and the ingredients really seem to do wonders for the skin. I found that after tapping it into the skin it does dry with a slightly sticky feel (but I applied it after toner so this may be why, or maybe it's reacting this way to my specific toner perhaps?) but it's light and is no problem as it's part of your routine so you would follow with an emulsion etc. I've really noticed a big improvement in my skin and often will leave the house with no makeup on as my skin just glows from the Korean regime, and this essence being a big part of it. Would definitely recommend!!

Love this product!
Yaaas x100 for this product! I'm just starting to really get into Japanese/Korean skincare and this product came highly raved about in the beauty community on Youtube. People said this was a great dupe for SKII so I decided to try it for myself. Bought this off of the seller "HAPPY ONLINE". The bottle came carefully wrapped in a thick layer of bubble wrap inside the mailing box. I know the original packaging comes in an extra cardboard MISSHA box, but I don't really care about that, since the package arrived safely and intact. Although I can't be 100% sure this is the authentic product, I was reassured after reading somewhere that if the bottle is a frosted glass bottle, it should be the actual real product. I've been using this stuff for almost 2 weeks now and I've been lovvvving it. It leaves my skin feeling super plump and hydrated and firm and it has already made positive impacts to my skin. My skin is less red now and some of my acne scars have faded quite a bit. I have combo/oily and sensitive skin, and I haven't had any reaction to it so far. Great product; I highly recommend it. Note: If you do purchase it, please wait at least 5-10 minutes after using this before applying any other skincare products! I'm not a skincare expert, but apparently this will allow the product to really soak into your skin and work its magic.

Soft skin and smooth out wrinkles!
This is an amazing product! It smooths out wrinkles and makes your skin super soft. I think it's a great preventative product as well. I give it a high thumbs up and recommend it to everyone!

Calming & Soothing - Absorbs QUICKLY - EXCELLENT Canvas for prepping skin!
I incorporate Korean skincare in my routine and have seen a marked improvement in smoothness and clarity overall. The mirror does NOT lie. Neither does my bank balance. What started off as a trial balloon is now a keeper for me. I don't however, subscribe to the full-on mania and near-hysteria about Korean and Asian skincare in general. There's no way I have (or want to MAKE), the time for all the steps involved in a proper Korean skincare routine. Not because I don't want to but because travelling with so many products is not something I care to do. My toiletry and cosmetic kit-and-caboodle, even when streamlined for travel, weighs a bloody ton. I cherry-pick my skincare and choose what works for me across the board from Olay's Luminous Cream (quite wonderful, incidentally), to ROCs OTC Retinol creme in the bronzy-gold tube to whatever I tweak according to the season and my skin's needs. Now Missha's Time Revolution The First Essence is supposed to be verrrry similar to, and in fact the country cousin of SK 11's famous essence; the one with Cate Blanchett's ethereal skin acting as a beacon for prospective SK 11 customers. I bought a bottle from an online Korean cosmetics mall, liked how my skin reacted to it so this is my second bottle. Right off, I found this calming. I mistakenly took this for a Toner and applied it post double-cleansing to prep. my skin before absorbing a basic Serum, (an occasional OTC Retinol cream), Moisturiser and a topping of Differin Gel. I apply some on a cotton pad and gently rub it over face and neck. It makes a very good toner, in fact. There's no stinging or burning on application. NO after-burn, either. After reading the package, I sometimes apply it the way it's recommended, to wit:- - Applied with fingers directly the the skin and patted in. This works beautifully as well. It absorbs in about 30 seconds and your ready for what's next. There's what feels like a very slight stickiness on first applying this, but it dissipates in seconds. My skin's been doing well with this. I can't honestly say its made my skin any clearer than the Cosrx brightening serum but it preps my skin so well. It's akin to prepping the canvas before getting down to serious painting. If the prepping's not done right, everything that follows will reflect it. The heavy bottle is a PITA for travelling but you can pop open the plastic stopper and CAREFULLY (very carefully) DECANT the liquid into a travel-ready container. You'll notice I haven't regurgitated what it says on the package about 'barley' and what's in this stuff. Really, does it matter? I mean, I read what's on the package but I don't take it as Holy Writ. Korean/Asian skincare is EXACTLY like Western skincare in the sense that it's the Same 'Ole Blah blah blah..., quasi-scientific gobbledygook we're expected to swallow like baby birds. I'm indifferent as to what hemisphere these fatuous blurbs originate from. I just want the product to do even halfway what it alleges to do. I feel rather like Janet (What Have You Done For Me Lately?) Jackson when using the any product du jour. This I'll be using for a long time. It's innocuous, removes any residual gunk from skin post-cleansing VERY well and makes a good introduction to the world of Essences, Korea style. I was trying to reach for a word to accurately describe how my skin felt after using this Missha product and I've found it ~ it feels BALANCED. And soothed. Thank-you for taking the time to read this review. I hope it's been of help.

Best Hydrating, Brightening, and Complexion-Clearing First Treatment Essence I've Used
I have used many first treatment essences over the years - including every one of Missha's previous formulas, Neogen, Primera, Iope, SK, Innisfree, Secret Key, May Coop, Scinic, and many more - and this formulation is my absolute favorite. My skin type is generally combination, occasionally dehydrated from use of retinol, and my pores are very easily clogged. Additionally, I live in an area with very dry, windy, and cold winters, which led to me having flaky, dry, and irritated skin during the winter months. I have been using 3 to 5 layers of this morning and night for the past 6 months, and it has helped to keep my moisture levels balanced. On top of that, ever since I started using this essence, I rarely see clogged pores, and my face is so clear that I am often pleasantly surprised (and happy)! Intensive vs. Intensive Moist I hesitated to pick up this essence because of online reviews expressing that this one may be inferior to its predecessor (Intensive), but I found the Intensive version led to some noticeable clogged pores and left an overall film-y feeling on my skin that was definitely unpleasant compared to how the Intensive Moist felt. Also, the Intensive Moist keeps my dry areas happy and flake-free for most of the day, whereas the Intensive did not.

This product works!
I was very skeptical about products labeled "water essence" or just "essence" that I had seen in stores. It seemed like a scam product with a name that was getting in on the essential oil craze. BUT, I read a review of these products in a NY Times article about the J- and K-beauty regimens and how the theory behind skin care is different from western countries. I chose this product among those that were reviewed because it is very affordable and had a good overall rating. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and I really cannot believe the difference in my 57-year-old skin!! It looks a bit denser, is less dry looking and has a bit of a sheen to it that seems to come from the inside. This product leaves absolutely no detectable residue on the skin. Another great feature is that is is fragrance-free!! The bottle has a bit of an awkward opening/spout that allows for a drop or two to come out when you shake it into your palm. I use about 5-6 drops am and pm, so I imagine the bottle will last for quite a while. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Didn't work for my skin, maybe it'll work for yours?
Personally it didn't do much for my skin. I've been using this product since February of this year and I'm near the end of the bottle. I won't be buying it again. Maybe my skin doesn't care for the fermented yeast? Many others seem to love it and call it their holy grail but it didn't live up to its standards for me. I think my skin needs something that focuses solely on moisturizing and hydration, but this product did make my skin softer. The texture and brightness of my skin is currently about the same. Claims: - Hydrating (from fermented ingredients) - Improves texture by removing dead skin cells - Brightens (niacinamide is an ingredient known for skin brightening) Some Ingredients (beauty gurus like to point out): - Glycerin for hydration - Lactic acid: AHA used in anti-aging products to soften and smooth out skin * please note these ingredients are not key ingredients in this product. in fact they are much further down the list therefore have lesser impact than the fermented ingredients*

Revolutionary product
Travel and the use of a “new” face cream for 10 days led to drying out of my skin. The Missa Time Revolution took care of the problem I was having within three days….thankfully!!!!
