Excellent knife
I replaced an identical knife with this Zwilling. 14 years of use and abuse of my old knife it was time to replace. You will immediately notice the quality of the knife when you remove from the packaging. This knife is balanced and very sharp. I like the 8 inch length as I had a cheap 10 inch knife and I could not slice as quickly as I could with the 8 inch knife. This is the professional series of knifes and is not really highlighted in the title or description of the this product. I would recommend to a friend.

A successful birthday gift
This knife was a birthday gift for my daughter, who cooks a lot. I took a chance on it because the reviews were good and the introductory price was right. Here is what she says about it: Hi Dad, I like the knife very much. On the pro side, the blade shape is classic Chef knife, so it has a fully functional tip as well as the multipurpose blade edge. It came fully sharpened so right out of the box I could take advantage of function. The blade itself is quite thin, reducing the work required to cut stacks of vegetables. In the con side, the grip could be a little more comfortably engineered (the grip has some very angular edges) but I seem to have got used to this feel in a very short time. The Henkel has replaced my favorite stainless steel blade as my go-to knife in the kitchen, so that counts for a lot, because I wasn't not unhappy with the old knife, just looking to move my kitchen game up a notch. Many thanks for the Birthday present - I will certainly be using it every day, all year long!

Great Chef's Knife for the home cook!
This is a solid 8" classic chef's knife that is perfect for the home cook. The steel is of good quality and holds an edge for some time. Sharpening is easy if you know what you are doing or have an automatic sharpener at home and the steel quality will allow for many years of honing the edge. Performs well on cold and hot foods and has excellent balance. The tang is the full length of the handle and almost as long as the blade. You can spend close to $200 on some knives, but you have to stop and ask yourself "Am I good enough to need this knife?" Are you professionally trained? Work in a restaurant? Do you need a razor sharp edge to execute fine detail cuts for French or Japanese cuisine? No? Then don't spend $200 on a knife. Get this one and do all the same cooking you would have with the super expensive one.

Favorite knife
I have had this knife about 4 months now, and it is excellent. Sharp, good balance and no frills. I did round the corners where my index finger wraps the handle to make it more comfortable. Just took a few minutes with a file.

Good quality knife for general kitchen use.
I dislike the corners of the handle, they are not rounded enough for me. It is well balanced and should be perfect for normal household use. Very rarely do you get a German built knife for this price. It is worth every bit what they are asking.
