The paper is very good but not as lovely as in the original Japanese version: this version is bright white and smooth rather than cream and velvety. The art is identical so superb with varied subjects and compositions.The colored in images at the beginning are a nice touch

Buy the Japanese edition
Have both editions .Lovely book .My favourite.But the paper and binding of the book is much better in the Japanese edition. The English book will take the prisma colors .But is very difficult to color with other pencils .Not recommended for watercolors . And the book comes apart .Did buy it for my friend ,and she had the same problem .Got now all the 3 books in the Japanese edition .It is worth the extra dollars .Books arrived in very good condition .But I love the artist .The 3 stars are for the publication of the book .5 stars for Kanoko Egusa.
