Great retrofit for my old maglites. I held off on writing a review until I had some time to test it out. Works great, has a great beam, and is really bright. Very easy to install and I would absolutely recommend this for anyone who wants to upgrade their maglite. I bought a second one as I use one 4 D-Cell to walk the dog and keep a 4 D-Cell in my truck. The old incandescent light bulbs and small replacement LED bulbs are useless. The quality is very good and it's worth the money, its not cheap but quality never is. I use it every morning and every night when I walk the dog to protect myself from Chupacabras, Zombies, and Skunk Apes (I live in Florida). You do lose the ability to focus the beam, but I dont miss it. Brightness setting all work great and it automatically turns on the same brightness setting you turned it off. Buy one...or maybe 2!

Ah, kids these days don't know the pain of the old-school Maglites. The sometimes wobbly beam and the way you would have to occasionally rap the butt-end of the flashlight to get it to switch on. And the bruise left by this incredibly heavy, dense, unyielding piece of aircraft metal if you misjudged how hard you tapped it against your knee (or if you were exceptionally drunk, against your forehead in a perverse and ultimately self-defeating demonstration of machismo). Well, the flashlight is still incredibly heavy but there is less need to rap the end of the flashlight with this LED conversion installed. As an older model flashlight, it was necessary to remove the extra spacer. And one is well served to follow the directions and completely remove the head to install this kit rather than simply remove the lens. I should have just read the manual rather than curse needlessly at the kit. You do lose the signature Maglite focusing that allows you to twist the head to adjust the beam angle. On the other hand, you gain the ability to choose 3 different intensity levels. Even the low setting seems almost as (or perhaps just as) bright as the original incandescent bulb. Overall, this is a good kit that has brought new life to my old Maglite and given it performance that rivals some of my newer, fancier, rechargeable flashlights. The instruction sheet is straightforward; I should have read it through from the start. It would have only taken a few minutes and saved me the several additional minutes I wasted complaining (erronenously) that it didn't install or work correctly. The instructions only tell you what you need to know and do not proselytize on any other topic other than the proper installation and use of the LED conversion kit. Thanks, Lumencraft! I'm going to search around the house to see if there are any other old Maglites in need of a refresh!
