C**H
Poorly written, loaded with western stereotypes and cliches
Writing about such subjects well must be extremely difficult, but this effort is suspicious to say the least.“This mantra” (in sanskrit) “should not be recited if postnatal or menstruating or if a death has occurred in your immediate family.” Right. The same authors stress the dire need for respect and reverence of terms, but use the word “science” in horribly inappropriate contexts. They come across as though they simply struggle with modern life and are desperately trying to escape it. I’d prefer to respect tantra enough to imagine it a little better thought out.It is a fairly useful dictionary of sorts for fundamental concepts. Terms seem summarised from other texts rather than giving you confidence the authors have understood them. But the meditations range from so simplistic as to be comedic all the way to warning you not to say something in Sanskrit if your grandmother’s dead. There may be one or two aspects of the ancient philosophy (particularly those pertaining to honesty) the authors haven’t quite grasped
