Honestly the best way to sharpen your knives. Takes some learning but works great! I love it

Good stone for basic sharpening.
So far I like my stone. I have sharpened several of my knives with it. I however finished the process with my sharpening steel, as that seemed to be the missing ingredient in truly getting the edge I wanted. It would be more beneficial if there was an angle guide so the knife would maintain the proper suggested angle for sharpening. I have a pretty good feel, but I am sure I wasn't always maintaining the best angle and therefore had to use my sharpening steel to complete the job. Overall if you want to bring back the initial edge to your kitchen knives this stone will definitely allow you to do that. Again it might even work better with some kind of angle guide or you can do what I did and finish your knives with a sharpening steel.

Great!
Works really well for beginner tool sharpening! The silicon mat keeps the stone securely on the countertop.

Does the job!
(This was purchased for my hubby.)Does a good job of sharpening knives. Friends & family brag abt their knives being so sharp. The only negative is soaking in water. His previous tools used 3 in 1 oil, so this has been a transition for him.

Great value, Good Product
The only thing negative I could say about this has nothing to do with the product but with my inexperience with whetstones. If I had known more, I probably would have seen the value in buying a more expensive version with the base and guide. If anyone new to whetstones reads this, spend the extra money to get the version buy this company that has the bamboo base and guide to make it easier to use for beginners! That said, this is still a great product and a great value. They have decent instructions and are very communicative but the product itself works really well. It just took me a few times to get the angle right and find a good place to put the whetstone so that it would not slip around while making the swipes of the blade against it. By the third knife, I have sharp usable blades again! When we moved things were in disarray and the knife block was lost and the good knives got duller quicker. Now I have blades that easily cut through tomato and apple skins with ease. As someone who values good kitchen equipment, I am surprised I waited so long to get a whetstone and learn how to use it.If someone gets this version and not the one with a guide and base, make sure you have a surface that will provide enough friction to keep the rubberized base stable when the stone is wet and just be as consistent as possible with the angle and pressure. I found 10-15 swipes on each side was enough to make blades with visibly rough edges smooth and sharp once I got thee motion and angle down. I highly recommend getting this or the "upgraded" versions.

Good enough stones at a reasonable price, but the company is sketchy
I bought these to sharpen my pocket knives and kitchen knives. However, the box had no instructions, but included a page with a link to their "free ebook" site. I had only sharpened knives with a "slot" style and wanted to make sure I was using these correctly. There was no direct download of the instructions on the ebook site, I had to fill out an online form so they could gather names and emails. The page wouldn't work because there were "hidden pixel" trackers to multiple data scraping sites. My adblocker and the Firefox Facebook container wouldn't let the form work without turning all that off. I used a throwaway email in a different browser to sign up and the email that came to me was also full of trackers and used a deceptive link to Dropbox that actually was to some click harvesting tracker. If you value your data privacy, I'd suggest another vendor.
