The ears on this thing are adorable, and yes it works great. My baby girl is 10 months and crawling EVERYWHERE. She has been crying a lot less from bumping her head into chairs and other things, wish I had gotten it sooner. She hasn't noticed or bothered the strings at all so far.

Not made well

This definitely looked cute but it was also very functional for a foster parent raising a baby that was just looking to start walking. Before this helmet there were more than a few bumps on the noggin' but this really helped in feeling that the baby was protected.
