desertcart.com : Tea Leaf Salad Mix (Chilli) : Gourmet Food : Grocery & Gourmet Food Review: Great base kit to add on for tea leaf salad! - The Burma Superstar kit is currently not available so this is a good substitute. This kit has both the tea leaf and the crunchy topping. Look through the reviews for another reviewer's addition to the tea leaf for a good copy of the BSS salad. It is definitely SPICY! So know that it packs some heat if you're not used that. You could probably add less of the tea leaf mixture to tame it. I actually like the spicy/heat. I like adding fresh avocado and that helps tame the heat. (chopped romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes and juice of half a fresh lemon with a spoonful of the tea leaf mix and sprinkled the crunchy topping). I've had several servings and still have 1/4 of the tea leaf mixture and 1/2 bag of the crunchy topping so this kit could make several servings for one person. Review: Great flavor, needs better labeling. - It arrived fast and the contents were well packaged. Tea leaf salad was something we fell in love with after discovering the Rangoon Burmese Kitchen, a great little restaurant in Chinatown on Oahu. My girl is amazing with food and I trust her palate. We both liked it but immediately she tasted msg and we struggled to read the “ingredients” label as it is ridiculously microscopic and it turns out it doesn’t list the ingredients. We got about 4 servings total after eating it as a main course after adding quite a bit of other greens, tomatoes and other fresh ingredients and eating it with rice as a side. We may add even more greens to stretch it further next time. Pro’s were the flavor & the packaging was sealed well. Con’s were all in labeling and being transparent with contents. 1 star removed as we should know what we are buying and eating. Labeling doesn’t list ingredients (like what kind of seeds, oil, nuts…), + msg always needs to be listed - does it have it, or not? That’s not negotiable. It brought the flavor of Burma to our kitchen but could be improved a bit.

Quick and good tea leaf salad
I love tea leaf salad but it takes a good amount of time to prepare. This mix isn't as good as the "real thing" but it's very easy to use and very fast. Just add the lettuce (I prefer lettuce over cabbage), fresh chilli, fresh garlic, some lemon juice, fish sauce, some shrimp powder and or some pine nuts (some prefer peanuts but I think pine nuts are better), etc. If you want, as some cherry tomatoes.

Great start to a complicated salad
I love this stuff. I can get two giant salads out of one kit. Round up some romaine and tomatoes at a minimum, other veggies and herbs at a max, and boom, flavorful crunchy salad to elevate a meal.

Yuzana sour pickle tea
I know Laphet (pickle tea leaves/fermented tea leaves) very well and eat all the time. This item I receivedis just junk. Not tea leaves at all. Dried unknown leaves loaded in oil and MSG. I don’t mind MSG or oil but expected tea leaves not old dry unknown leaves. I trashed it. Wasted money. I hope Amazon warns “Yuzana” of Myanmar to do fair trading no cheating. Customer expect good value for the high price they paid. I will recommend to not buy Yuzana brand at this time. There are several other brands still good quality real fermented tea leave.

Fine dressing, sad nuts
Tea leaf dressing was fine, but the crunchy mix was not - stale and kind of oily with an off smell and aftertaste. I ended up making my own mix of roasted nuts and sesame seeds (which turned out fine), but it made me sad to throw away the big bag of nuts :(

LOVE THIS STUFF
You can't get more authentic than this. I first tried this kit from my dad's Burmese co worker and was thrilled when I saw it on Amazon! I recently ordered a box and tried it and it was great! I mix the salad kit with chopped up romaine lettuce, chopped tomatoes, dried shrimp bits from the ethnic store and juice from half a lemon! If you seem sketched out by the packaging, don't be. If you love tea leaf salad, you'll love this!
