Excellent Book to learn precalculus
I selected this book primarily because I needed a book to go over the topic area with my son and it was one of the textbooks available on cramster.com (which is web site that has the problem solutions for popular college textbooks). It is very readable and has many exercises (probably more than the average person would ever need). The really nice feature that I wish I had when I was learning this material (way back when) was the use of many graphs, diagrams and the graphing calculator to illustrate the concepts and ideas. In addition, the end of every section has very thoughtful exercises that go beyond the tedious and repetitive problem solving route. Lastly, the chapter test helps to prepare for any real class exams. As a parent of a college age student I wondered about the outrageous prices being demanded by college textbooks today - are they worth it? Well, this one is....and I purchased two books, one of me and my son and I am not disappointed. I have not even explored the online features available to assist students yet. In summary , all these features provided and the adherence by the authors to a positive pedagogical approach that benefits students add value to the book and make it worth while for anyone taking the course on their own or in a classroom.

great book to teach you beyound 1 + 1
I am currently teaching myself Pre-cal for fun. So far I am on chapter 1.10. The examples is pretty clear, as long as you follow their examples and do all the excises on the back, you should be OK. I do wish they could include all the answer keys and not just the odd #s, but I guess that's just a long tradition in American text book.My copy is a used, I bought for $9, I love it how I could just write on the book without worrying anything.Anyways, if you are serious about teaching yourself beyond 1 + 1, this book is for you.Oh, and btw, get yourself a lot of scrap paper, I found it usually requires you to use one whole page A4 size to perform the calculation for one question.

Needs more examples
Pretty good textbook at explaining the concepts and formulas of Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry.Wish it provided more examples, but with a decent instructor you should be fine

Book itself if just as any other Precalculus book
I cannot sit here and say that this book will give you any more knowledge if you had to pick some other book on a topic of precalculus. It was a requirement in my college and so i bought it. Overall, if i had to use just this book then i would be ok because it gives sufficient amount of information and examples to support your knowledge about precalculus. Even though, some precalculus background that you may have prior would be of much help.

Blurry text
Several sections of the textbook are blurry and difficult to read. This was not indicated in the textbook description: "Condition: Used - Very Good - Very good condition, wear from reading. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged but may have spine creases from reading."

Exactly what I needed
As universities always do, the textbook for my Precalc class was a newer addition of this book. Looking more into it, I found that the newer eddition was relatively the same book as this one, perhaps in a little different order. I saved almost 100 dollars by buying this older addition. It did come with the online WebAssign, which included an ebook.
