The pictures were so unusual
I can not say I disliked the pictures in this book, but they were certainly different. I colored the ones I liked most and they are very cute. I plan to use them at Christmas in my picture frame that holds 3, 8X10 pictures. I love to color and have since I was a child and I think I have done most of the books on Amazon and also the greeting cards I find it relaxing and when I have visitors, the first thing they do is look at my frame to see what is new in it.

32 Christmas and Holiday designs from a variety of artists – printed one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. “Merry and Bright” is the one of the two holiday coloring books by Designs Originals this year. Both books are collections from a variety of artists who publish books from Designs Originals. The artists include: Thaneeya McArdle, Angelea Van Dam, Robin Pickens, Valerie McKeehan, William Vanderdasson and Jenny Newland. Most (if not all) of the designs seem to have been published in each artist's own holiday books in the past or those about to be published. I own a few of those books but have no problems with the duplication of the designs, especially as this great holiday coloring book is very affordable. Some of the designs are full size compared to medium size in their original books so I am pleased with that change. The designs are a really nice mix with lots of Christmas and holiday spirit. They range from cute line drawings to chalk-board style designs to detailed and intricate designs. It gives the colorist a really diverse group of designs to choose from and a good number of artists to try. This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium. In the comments section below, I will list the coloring medium I use for testing and coloring.32 Full Size Christmas/Holiday Designs from a variety of artistsPrinted one side of the page – back of page has journal lines and a quotePaper is medium weight, white (though some are printed with black background), slightly rough and perforatedGlue BindingDesigns stop well before the perforationsAlcohol and water-based markers bleed through the pageGel pens and India ink pens can spot through to the back of the pageColored pencils work well with the paper. Both oil and wax based pencils provide good color, layer, and blend well. Hard lead pencils can dent through the page.I use a blotter page of card stock or heavyweight paper (two sheets0 to keep seeping ink and dents from marring the pages below. I recommend using a blotter or that you remove pages before coloring.

Merry & Bright
When I purchased this coloring book back in October, it was with the understanding that it was a new coloring book. When it arrived. I discovered that it is and it isn't.The pictures from the five artists haven't been presented exactly this way before but, the artists pictures can be found in other Design Orignal books. This I probably wouldn't have minded so much but, I purchased those books also.Included in this book are 32 full-size pictures that are single sided with a quote on the back each page is perforated and nice quality8 - from Thaneeya McArdle's Christmas Coloring Book8 - Angela Van Dam 's Hello Angel Winter Wonderland7 - Robin Pickens' Christmas Traditions7 - Valerie Mckeehan's Chalk Style Holiday2 - William Vanderdasson's Christmas Cuties1 - Jenny Newland's Christmas CutiesThe only pages I really didn't care for was the chalk-style and it was as it turns out the only book I didn't buy. I would recommend this compilation to others who.don't already have these artists books.

You get what you pay for.
I like the pictures in the book and I like the perforated edge so I can rip the pages out and frame them. The only problem I have with the book is the paper quality. The paper should be thicker so markers don't bleed through.

not as detailed as cover shows
i ordered this book because the cover looked more realistic and detailed. its not as detailed as the cover appears and its pretty much the same pictures as in the illustrated christmas treasury. you dont need both of them. there might be 2 or 3 pictures that arent in the christmas treasury that is by the same people and publisher. . because of the cover, i thought it would be different pictures than in the christmas treasury and more detailed. it was pretty much the same pictures and not anymore detail. mcardle's web site says she does realistic things as well as the simpler more whimsical stuff and the blurb on this book said many artists contributed to it. i guess the lesson is that anything put out by this company is simple and not detailed and quite stylistic. it would definitely qualify as a childrens coloring book. i was looking for adult. also, there is too much heavy black ink. spaces should be left to color instead of being blacked in heavily. for me, the finished product doesnt look good with blotches of heavy black ink. i prefer for the inking not to show.

Wish the lines were glossy
Seems like the lines could be crisper and darker, but it will serve its purpose to color with my daughter. Perforated edges, thicker than regular paper, but can see the print from the next page if you look. Overall it had the best price with the better pictures in the group by DesignOriginals.
