The Christmas Story

The book itself is very nice but the most important pop-up with the star will not close properly. The quality of the pop-ups themselves is not up to the standards of the many pop-up books I have bought from Amazon over the years. My mistake - I didn't really look at the book until it was time to share it at the day care in December. Amazon will not honor a return. Beware - the quality is not good. I love Robert Sabuda's books but they are no longer well made. I also have The Twelve Day of Christmas by Robert Sabuda which I bought many years ago. It is in perfect shape and the colors are bright. Last year I sent a copy from Amazon to my grand-daughter and her children. It was a drab affair in comparison to mine. Again - Beware - Amazon is in decline. That's a shame.

This is nowhere near worth the money and not at all as nice as his other pop ups. We were severely disappointed. Several pages had non functioning pop ups as well, even though we bought it new.We hoped this book would bring to life the magic of the birth of Christ for our daughter instead she’s totally uninterested in the minimalist and unimaginative pop ups.

The paper engineering is wonderful, especially on the page where the new star appears. While some reviewers have disliked the 'all white' 3 D pop up images, for me the 'all white' adds to the beauty, simplicity, and eloquence in this retelling the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. All of my children with families of their own received a copy of this book for their family Christmas 2019. My observations as they and my grandchildren experienced the book for the first time were that they also saw, heard, and felt it as I did, as a work of wonder, profoundly awe inspiring. If you love celebrating the true meaning of Christmas and you enjoy pop up books I highly recommend this book to your family.

Admittedly, I'm an ardent admirer of Robert Sabuda's work...I've many of his books in my pop-up collection and now it seems my passion has skipped a generation....my great nephew has requested pop-up books for Christmas....I immediately thought this specific book as the most appropriate....it's a wonder-filled beginning for his collection and also marks this most auspicious holiday.

I only gave it 4 stars because the pop-ups are all white...very little color at all. Still, it is beautiful in a way. Some of the pop-ups didn't "pop-up" when the page WD opened...had to play with them to get them to work.

A must for your pop-up collection. This is a beautiful book by the pop-up master Robert Sabuda. I have all of his pop-ups. This book has great pop-ups and the text is good too.(Note: I'd like to give credit for the title of this review to the late Bill Hicks. A hilarious comedian. Google him.)

You would think pop books are for children but this is even more appreciated by adults. Sharing it with children is an awesome experience but it would be a crime to let little hands anywhere near this book. The pop ups are awesome making the story told a special time spend together or in solitude.

This is a truly incredible book, both because of it's message of our Lord and Savior's birth, but also because of the truly beautiful pop-ups. It is hard to imagine that anyone could figure out how to fold paper in such an intricate way to create these stunning pop-ups. This is a book to be treasured and the company that sold them to us was fantastic to work with!

Absolutely beautiful book, which we shall love. My only negative thoughts are that it is so very complicated that it will be difficult to maintain (already the shepherds and sheep on the final page are failing to stand up.

Have not taken the wrapping off as this is a Christmas gift & I know it will explode when removed. You can look on You Tube to see the contents. A precious book to be looked at every year

STUNNINGLY beautiful book on the real meaning of Christmas. My grandchildren AND I were blown away by the beauty and simplicity of this book. A must have for those who love to pass their beautiful books down the family. This is one of those 😍😍!! STUNNING.

Exquisite art forms. Transfixed children and adults alike. This has become a Christmas tradition in our family....This is the 5th one we have bought! Robert Sabuda is a master craftsman.
