The lid was IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN DUE TO MY ARTHRITIS! Had to get a man to open this and he even had a tough time. However, once we wrestled with it...and spread it under the bed and sofa, window sills, outlets, carpets, behind stove and fridge, and all corners in my apartment...the bed bug issue slowly started to improve by 70 perecent within 10 days of living with powder everywhere. It is a good idea to wear a mask and gloves but we didn't need to. Just shut off the AC while spreading it between and under sofa. cushions and all base boards using old empty spice jars. And old coffee cans we punched holes in the lid. Used rubbing alcohol in spray bottles to kill them whenever we see them on headboard or walls etc This should be applied as soon as possible. Those suckers keep coming back every month or two. This time we will leave it all over the place for a month or two and update you. We live in an apt.complex so they come in through outlets and walls or under the door or windows. Order this and apply.every two months for a whole weekend even if you don't see any. Put it in your closets and shelves and drawers and under sinks and garages to kill them off BEFORE you end up with a huge problem. Put some in your box spring and between mattress and under head board and under all feer to couches, tables, desks, beds and behind dressers and shelves at least once everu six months as bed bugs are a huge epidemic. Protect your furniture ahead of time! And get the bed bug covers for all mattress and box spring sets! Watch youtube videos to learn more. This is a battle that will take a huge toll on your life as they multiply rapidly and will take over your home and deprive you of sleep for weeks at a time. You can mop and bleach but they always come back as they hide in the walls. The rashes they cause will make you feel so embarrassed to go anywhere. It also kills other pests like roaches, fleas,spiders but again it takes about 3 weeks so be patient! Good luck! Ps. I also started to drink a tablespoon or two per day as a parasite cleanse! Very gentle but start off with a teaspoon a day in an 8 oz glass of water and slowly increase to your comfort level. Safe to put half a teaspoon for small pets in their pet food one week on one week off for the summer months. Food Grade means it is safe to consume. Just try not to breathe it. It doesn't burn the skin and feels like flour. Smells like flour. Love this stuff!

The benefits of DE are too numerous to list, in their entirety, here. It is ultimately important to get **FOOD GRADE** DE, if you intend to ingest it. The non-food grade amounts to poison, and can cause you serious harm. I use it because I damaged a knee, severely, in an accident. DE is very close to the silica that the body uses to repair ligaments and tendons. We make few purchases of DE, since a little goes a *LONG* way. It also works exceptionally well as an anti-insect measure. Being exo-skeletal, bugs of all kinds are severely (lethally) damaged, just walking across this. For comparison, imagine crawling on your bare belly, across a broken glass shard pile. This is exactly what it does to bugs. The undersides of their thorax is generally much softer than the rest of them. The DE slices those undersides, causing them to to dehydrate/evaporate, in short order. We use the food grade, just to avoid any unnecessary risk to getting any "dust" from the non-food grade in anything we might ingest. As far as "bang for the buck," Safest seems to be an excellent value. It arrived well-packaged, secure, and quickly. We are highly satisfied, and recommend them to you, as well.

I didnt read the reviews before I ordered this particular product, and thought, 'wow, 2 gallons! that sounds like a lot!' But in reality, it's not a whole lot. It came in a box, with a small plastic container. Yes, the container is reuseable... but I agree with others about getting the 50lbs bag instead of this. I have not ever used this before, so can't comment on the actual product itself. .. just think of 2 gallons of milk... that's all you'll be getting. . . but in a compressable powder form.Update: turns out this powder goes a long way! We treated for fleas in the whole house and have tons left. Killed adult fleas and now we're on round two where eggs have hatched, etc. We have just left the powder down and it keeps doing its job.... we are very pleased with how this works. There is powder every where but we don't mind especially since this is safe and natural and the fleas are going! As one review I read once said if you don't treat the whole room the fleas move to the untreated area. I didn't finish in one room and there are fleas all over tbe untreated area...but easy to remedy by finishing the job!

I bought this to work with the Vortex aquarium filter. I've also used this in the past to successfully treat my vegetable garden for snails, ants, and other insects.Literature indicates that you can knock some of this down with your breakfast cereal to rid yourself of digestive tract parasites. I don't see me trying that any time soon.Not wanting irregularly shaped fossil glass skeletons poking holes in my alveoli (as much as can be avoided) I take simple precautions not to inhale these 7 (µ) Diatomaceous earth particles.Keep the container on the floor, open/close the cap slowly and carefully so as not to kick dust up. While opening/closing the container or transferring the material, I wear a mask with changeable HEPA (filters out .3 (µ) and larger particles), vacuum (HEPA filter) up and wet-wipe counter/table work areas when done.This is a good value and a powerful tool. The plastic bucket is reusable and is a much better container that a bag.
