50 Human Studies, in Utero, Conducted in Modern China, Indicate Extreme Risk for Prenatal Ultrasound: A New Bibliography

Jim West does a wonderful job of not only presenting the research
This is a well written book on a crucially important subject. When my pregnant spouse received her first ultrasounds, I quickly found reliable references (NIH's national library of health) that clearly showed that ultrasound is damaging to developing mammal brains. The studies on mice and rodents was enough to convince me that prenatal ultrasound is far from the harmless test promoted by the medical industry. This book reveals that the largest body of evidence on ultrasound safety is surprisingly human studies done in China. Since the studies were performed on women about to undergo elective abortions, the studies have controls (no ultrasound), and various levels of ultrasound exposure, at standard power levels (or lower) for diagnostic imaging ultrasound. The results: Diagnostic ultrasound is found to be extremely damaging to the fetus. Even very low power levels and exposure times cause cell death and cell damage.Even before reading this book, I was convinced that prenatal ultrasound is leading to the boom in autism and other developmental disorders in children (ADD, ADHD, etc). After reading this book, any doubt I had about the damaging effects of ultrasound are gone.Jim West does a wonderful job of not only presenting the research, but providing a framework for understanding what is going on. How could the medical doctors and community go on giving more and more frequent, more and more powerful ultrasound exams when this evidence exists? Conflict of interest of the experts in this field explains a lot. The quotes of leading US experts in ultrasound imaging (all MDs) all state diagnostic ultrasound has not been proven harmful (false statement), they worrying indicate more research is needed, giving themselves a more "out."If you or someone you love is pregnant, think before submitting to prenatal ultrasounds. Do yourself a favor: pay the few dollars for this book, and protect your unborn loved one. It is an uphill fight, but you can refuse, or at least limit, prenatal ultrasounds.

At long last, credible science to address another medical sacred cow!!
Amazing information!! This kind of research would be impossible to conduct in the West due to ethical reasons I would imagine, but I'm grateful it has been done, and even more grateful Jim West has brought it to us. Earlier research in the West cast significant doubts on the safety of prenatal ultrasound and the Chinese studies leave NO DOUBT... it is dangerous. The studies outline the conditions under which prenatal ultrasound is biologically damaging, and the reader is informed on the safety boundaries for its use. I have, for a long time, had my suspicions about ultrasound safety though I could not find material to confirm it. Quite the contrary, all the medical mainstream information gave glowing safety reports. I have an 18month old boy that was subjected to multiple ultrasound events due to his being a high risk pregnancy. I was quite insistent that the sessions remain very focused and no "loitering" on any one anatomical location. The sonographer and medical staff, though polite, thought I was over-reacting and repeatedly reassured me of its safety. I only wish I had found out about this book before the pregnancy. I would have created some waves to be sure...BTW: my son is healthy and I assume, not affected by the exposure. However... How can I be sure?? Mr West, perhaps your next book could address the science that may address the question? No easy task I'm sure, especially when no one wants to produce data that goes counter to, or threatens, the economic viability of existing medical and Big Pharma stranglehold on pseudo-scientific popular health consensus.

Empirical Evidence.
There are two sides to every story. One side has a lot of money. The other is you.You owe it to yourself, your family, and unborn child to do as much research as you can whenever a Dr. wants to administer or prescribe something to you, or in my case my pregnant wife. The "standard of care" in modern medicine isn't concerned with the outcome of your health anymore; it stands for increased profits. The study Jim West transcribed from China is empirical evidence, contrary to the long held belief that: "because it hasn't been proven dangerous, it must be safe".I almost sent a copy of this book to my wife's first OBGYN after he condescendingly told me there was no risk with DUS. This was prior to reading this book; but at the time with my wife 7 weeks pregnant, I felt very uneasy with a medical procedure for something that was not a condition. Needless to say, we left without doing a DUS and never returned.Take responsibility for your health, do research, try not to be a victim to conformation bias nor accept authority for truth.

Worth reading
Although the author is undoubtedly bias, he presents large amounts of research which cast a concerning light on Western obstetric practice. If these studies are valid, parents are unknowingly harming their children at their most vulnerable and contributing to the prevalence of autism and birth defects in the US. These studies, whether considered ethical or not, should be considered by our law making and regulatory bodies.

very valuable review of sources suppressed in the west
Detailed presentation of facts and the studies found in Chinese science databases. Opened my eyes that the Chinese were so far ahead on actually doing this science, yet little of their work is available in the west. What other areas of science have the Chinese scientists researched that I will not be able to find due to the willing blindness of scientists to work that does not fit the western marketing a machines? This book is yet another damning indictment of allopathic medicine ruled by short term money gain, and covering up known hazards to the health of people.

Five stars as he show us the human studies needed ...
Five stars as he show us the human studies needed to verify what we have been wondering. This is a must read for anyone working with pregnant women! Thank you Jim!

A very important read.
Great summary of these studies whose results are otherwise not so accessible to the average person. It's the kind of information you don't really want to hear but you're glad you did so you can make better decisions about ultrasound during your own pregnancy. Even if some of it is a bit too technical and can go over your head - you still get the overall point of what the studies discovered.

Great book
Very useful and well researched. More people should be aware of this information. It shows how ultrasound breaks cells and DNA, and the higher the intensity and time, the more damage is caused. The only thing I missed is that I wish it provided more info about the relevancy of the damage, if the amount of cells that get destroyed is irrelevant or not, and how easily the body clears the mess.

Unbelievable that this isn't common knowledge in the west.
If you are, or are planning to get pregnant this is a must read. As usual, western medicine has rapidly increased the use of technologies ~never~ proven to be safe. There is an automatic assumption of safety, rather than a proven one. Not only that, as each generation of the equipment gets exponentially more powerful (energy transmitted to the fetus cells) they too are automatically grandfathered as safe. These Chinese human studies for which the west has no analog, prove that there is virtually no safe dose of ultrasonic radiation for fetus, and that they are especially harmful at certain key times like early brain development. It's one thing to use an ultrasound to quickly check for an emergency situation, but the ultrasound entertainment industry of 30 or 60 minute imaging are doing damage and should be banned entirely.Must read book for anyone considering an ultrasound during pregnancy. Medicine is supposed to be based on INFORMED CONSENT, but in the West we bury our heads in the sand instead.

but has been presented with notes throughout that highlight important points in a way that makes it easy to understand
Simply put, this is incredibly important information that, so far, has been ignored and overlooked by the medical community in general. It is not light reading, but has been presented with notes throughout that highlight important points in a way that makes it easy to understand. The truth is that ultrasound on pregnant women and unborn children has NOT been adequately tested in the western world, and therefore the information presented in this book is rare and extremely valuable. Reading this gave me concrete reasons to refuse an unecessary ultrasound, and gave enough strength to my conviction so that I was not worn down or bullied by the baseless arguments and belittling comments of the unquestioning majority.Given that home-use dopplers are becoming more and more popular and widely used, the information on the effects of dopplers on foetuses is also very important. I sincerely wish every woman would read this book before buying a doppler to 'reassure herself' multiple times a day throughout her pregnancy. The herd mentality is not easy to detach from, but this book provides solid, scientific evidence to anyone asking the important (and usually unasked) question: 'But is prenatal ultrasound really safe?'

Women Must Read!
Women need to read this!! After all the MD's stating "there is no proof that ultrasounds affect fetus'" ( only because no tests had been completed) this provides the proof!
