Surprised how rugged it turned out to be!
Bought this auger to use to run a water pipe under a sidewalk where I did not want the mess of using a hose to blast out a channel under the concrete. The auger worked surprisingly well although I had to rig up an extension to make it all the way across. You just have to go slowly and frequently pull out the auger to allow debris ejection otherwise debris will accumulate in the hole and jam things up. After successfully completing the project I used the auger to help my wife plant bushes in the yard. Amazingly, the auger handled some pretty rocky and root filled soil. Yes, the hexagonal tip on the shaft sheared off but the shaft still chucked up in the drill. BTW I'm using a Milwaukee 18 v Fuel brush-less drill/driver for this with the T-handle attached. It is rugged enough to handle the punishment that would probably kill most 18v drills out there (I have no connection to Milwaukee just mentioning the brand of drill because it will take a lot of punishment). Be careful or you can strain your wrist if you hit a rock or snag. Just put the drill in reverse and then go at it again. So far I have dug 20 holes with it that are 2 feet deep and about 18 inches wide. After using the auger to loosen things up, I use a post hole digger to remove the dirt from the hole when it is 1 foot deep. Then I drill down the second foot and use the auger to loosen things up. Then add compost and fertilizer to the hole and use the auger to mix everything up. Then the plant goes in and the dirt removed in the first step is mixed with compost and fertilizer in a 5 gallon bucket with the auger and then used to fill in the gaps along the side of the plant. All the welds are solid and the shaft is still straight despite having taken a LOT of punishment. Pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of this product and how much labor it has saved (along with my back)!

Auger for termite treatments
Item was delivered on schedule and undamaged. The item is perfect for drilling diagonal holes around foundation of home for termite treating. I sharpened the leading edges of auger to cut through small roots. Works great with battery drill!!

Drills 32: deep hole in soil and clay in less than a minute
This is fantastic! I just zipped through 32" of soil, clay and stone in less than a minute. It pulled out all of the debris and gave me a perfect round hole for my new bird feeder pole.

Good Idea - Moderate Execusion
The shaft was bent slightly causing a lot of wobble. If you are careful you can straighten the shaft to reduce the wobble but you should not have to do that. Also the hex flats that go into a drill motor are too short. They should be ground another 0.125 to 0.250 inch longer so that the shaft can be 'bottomed out' inside the drill chuck. A good idea that can be manufactured better.
