The award for the messiest train-wreck of characters goes to this book. Want to read about extremely toxic, co-dependent rich kids who are technically adults? This is your book. But why did I have a hard time putting it down? Gossip girl but they are all abundantly wealthy in London. I did like that the friend group was all about mid-twenties or older. Love triangles? Check. Dysfunctional parental relationships? Check. Drug and alcohol use? Check. I already know I’ll be reading book 2.Note: the audiobook wasn’t for me. It had weird pacing. Sections sounded completely different. There were noticeable edits added in and strange pauses. Ended up reading mostly the physical copy after about 30%.

Let me start by saying this book is well written and definitely intriguing—it was on my mind all day even when I wasn’t reading it and even when I started to hate it.That being said, every character in this book is toxic. There are no redeeming characters. And I’m sorry, but this book idolizes codependent and toxic relationships and it made me so angry how un-self-aware the MCs were. Like they all have money for therapy and not a single one speaks to a therapist ever?? And you can’t tell me they didn’t know because they talk about ducks having therapy in the book…like come on. Just no. I like the FMC alright but the MMC doesn’t do it for me at all. I don’t think I’ll continue the series.

One of the best books I’ve ever read. Read it online but ordered it just so I had a physical copy to loan out because it was that good and I need someone to talk to about it😂

You know when you touch fire, you're going to get burned? The characters in this book are missing a pain response because they touch the fire repeatedly.This is a childhood friend to lovers. This book is filled with a vicious cycle of jealousy, lies, and cheating.BJ and Magnolia have been each others everything since they were young. Until BJ makes a fatal mistake and cheats. Their entire lives are so woven together,they can't stay away from each other. She has boyfriends that she doesn't sleep with, just to make him jealous. He is Londons f boy. They seemingly get off by hurting each other, and they dont know how to love without the pain.All BJ wants is Magnolia, yet his pants never can manage to stay on long enough for him to regain her trust.I had to remind myself that the characters are in their early 20s and don't yet have the neurons to make sensible decisions.This book was frustratingly addicting. I think I hate it, but I also love it. I don't know what drugs the author put in the pages, but I couldn't put this book down. The book ended on a cliffhanger, so I will likely be spending the latter part of this month devouring this series.

Oh, how my blood pressure went up reading this book! There was a point, about 120 pages or so in, that I had to cut away and read another book to calm my nerves. Then, in a maneuver to avoid it further, I found another book to read. After 2 in-between reads, I reluctantly ventured back into Magnolia Parks. It was a forced endeavor. And once I picked it back up, I couldn't put it back down.The impact of this book will sneek up on you with a high you won't feel coming, but you'll enjoy the heck out of it the second it kicks in. It's euphoric. I've never read a book quite like this. It frustrated me in the best way. It made my plams sweaty and my nerves scorch.This is only book 1 in a 5 book (thus far) series! What the heck did I get myself into?!?! Whatever it is - I'M IN! Holy jeez, is this a ride! The toxicity that is Magnolia and BJ is addictive, heartbreaking, and utterly maddening. Jessa Hastings is a masterful author/ storyteller. Her writing is supreme. The humor is top-tier. Her character dialog is spectacular. For as much as I wanted to SCREAM (and pull out some of my hair) while reading this - I also, enthusiastically, want to jump with joy in gratitude that this book exists.

This book was nothing but toxicity from start to finish. Magnolia Parks and BJ Ballentine whole relationship was unhinged. And I loved every minute of it😂

How many loves does one get in a lifetime?Love is obviously the major theme of this book; however it is absolutely NOT a romance book. This is more of a character analysis into how the MC's maneuver through a toxic AF relationship (the answer is poorly). There were many points where it physically hurt me to read it. Neither MC could untangle themselves from one another, which is heartbreaking and irrigating at the same time. If you've been in a toxic co-dependent relationship this book is not for you. Or at least be in a good place before reading.

Ich kann es kaum erwarten, mehr über die weiteren Entwicklungen im Magnolia Parks Universe zu erfahren. Eine absolute Leseempfehlung!
