Amazing book
This book actually uses science rather than the author just inserting subjective opinions, and after reading it you will be left with practical and easy to apply tips.

The Most Practical, Effective "Self-Help" Book You Can Buy
Full disclosure: I've been following Menno for years, and am a certified PT under him as well.Throughout my time following Menno's work, he would drop little gems of "life" advice. Advice that was so profound and practical. To read a single sentence, and be able to immediately implement that into my life was something I've searched for in every book I've ever read on self-improvement.This book is by far the best self-improvement book I've ever read. All of the advice is practical and effective. All of his recommendations are backed by reliable research (Menno's main job is to interpret research, so you will not find any statistically flawed studies in his references). You can read a section and immediately apply it to your daily routine.Too many times I get excited about a self-improvement book, only to find out that the author has written vague, impractical advice. We've all seen the memes: "First, you must wake up at 4:30 AM in order to run 5 miles and fit in your 2 hour meditation before your extensive journaling session..". There is none of that crap in this book. This book only contains valuable, field-tested information. On the fitness sections of the book:I've been training for 12 years now, 7 of those I've been competing at the highest levels of powerlifting and bodybuilding. But, before you dismiss me as being genetically gifted, I started as an unathletic, overweight kid, who couldn't stop stuffing his face. I've probably read and tried almost all of the fitness advice out there. I've also probably wasted YEARS on ineffective, unsustainable pursuits to get lean and muscular. Menno's prescriptions are the complete opposite of that. Instead of trying to find the "right" program, you will be able to stick with your diet and training and actually see results. If I could go back and give my younger self one book, this would be the one by a longshot. Whoever is reading this, do yourself a favor and pick-up this book.

Highly Recommend
I read self-help books like it is going out of style and randomly happened upon this one in my endless Amazon scrolling and I am so glad I did. I actually do not think I have ever written an amazon book review despite reading 60+ books a year, but this book deserves one. I am only half way through and I am really impressed. The book is very grounded in practical and actionable tips and lots of relevant research to back up his claims and suggestions. The sections are short and to the point, but not too short. You get enough information to know what to do and why, but you're not drowned in unnecessary details, which I appreciate. The book covers an array of topics - of principal interest to me were the "how to be more productive" and "how to stick to your diet" sections. My favorite part is the author's focus on the mental side of things. It is amazing how our brain creates placebo and nocebo effects and Menno really hits at the heart of that and debunks many false ideas we tend to have about ourselves. Overall, a fantastic book that I look forward to continue reading!

Fast useful tips on eating and exercise
I like this book a lot. It has quick tips and info which is practical and easy to use in real life. I had already done so e of the tricks from this book before I got it.Page 53 has a great quote, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of self-control."

A frustrating text - nonetheless some very good info
I was really looking forward to this book, because I was looking forward to seeing what Menno's work could become in the hands of a competent editor and publisher. In this, I was sorely disappointed. This is unfiltered Menno; not a "book" so much as a long, self-published list of his favorite self-help hacks, delivered with a touch of low-key locker room sexism. None of what he says is outrageous; just a few unnecessary off-color moments as per usual. Unnecessary, that is, unless that necessity is just to subtly (or not so subtly) remind everyone he doesn't care to censor himself, and if it bothers you, you're just too woke. This is doubly unfortunate because actually there is a huge amount of great information here that can indeed help anyone take more control of their life - especially if weight gain is something you struggle with. Despite the fact that the default audience seems to be the white male gym bro, the information Menno provides could even more useful to people who are not already steeped in bodybuilding culture if they have the appetite for it.I was hoping this would be the version of Menno's work that I could happily recommend to friends and family and give out to everyone at Christmas. Done right, it could have had wide influence outside of the fitness world. But I doubt this version will go that far. I was shocked that Menno chose to self-publish this version (if only because of the commercial potential) but I guess it's kind of on brand to his IDGAF approach. In sum, I wouldn't recommend this it to everyone I know, but I'll recommend it to some. The text has an amateurish vibe, and there are a few weird moments, but there's a huge amount of highly useful information. I've read a ton of Menno's writing before, and I nonetheless read all of this with interest (if occasional eye-rolling). If you're a self-improvement junkie or a fitness person who wants some focussed tips and don't care about delivery, this text will probably offer you something new that you can apply. I look forward to someone taking this text as a jumping off point and building on Menno's work to create something more narratively interesting and broadly accessible.

Really Underrated
I first heard of Menno years ago via Jeff Nippard. But it was only through his recent appearance on the modern wisdom podcast that I realised how multifaceted his knowledge was, and how intelligent his approach to other things than fitness is.Really glad I found this book, it’s been the most actionable I’ve read in years.

Great and useful book
Thank you for writing this book. Full of super useful tips, very well written, references to studies. I learned a lot, both about food behavior and training. A lot of myths have been gently eliminated and reviewed in a concrete way. I will apply many of these tips very quickly. I'm already hoping for a 2nd book from Menno... maybe more focused on sport, training techniques. This book is a must-have.
