Plant Grow Light

Good enough but not perfect
I bought five of these to provide extra light for some ornamental cacti during the winter months when I have to bring them inside. They are far from perfect, but for me they are sufficient for my immediate needs. They are incredibly versatile, relatively inexpensive, unobtrusive, easy to setup and relatively attractive.Below is my "pros and cons" list:Pros:1. I love the USB power option of these lights. Rather than using the USB adapter that came with them, I purchased a 5-slot USB charger hub. This helps considerably with cord management and helps to keep the setup looking very clean. If you go with this option, just make sure that you select a USB charger hub that meets the overall power requirement of the lights.2. The clips are sturdy and grip well. I am using these lights on a five-tier shelf with one light above a cacti on each shelf. The lights themselves are nearly invisible (when they are turned off, of course) and cord management is super easy and very neat (see Pro #1 above).3. The gooseneck is very stiff with no sag, making easy to position the light where you want it.Cons:1. Although I am not using the USB power supplies that came with these lights, I did test them and 2 out of 5 did not work.2. The switches are not always wired correctly. 1 out of 5 of my lights is set to "low intensity" when the switch is set to "high intensity". This suggests that quality control on these is somewhat questionable.3. The light fixture on 1 out of 5 of my lights came out of the gooseneck almost immediately upon positioning the light. I was able to refit the fixture into the gooseneck and secure it with black electrical tape. The fix is barely noticeable unless you know to look for it, but again suggests poor quality. I am concerned about the long term viability of this fix given how hot the light gets with continuous use (see below).4. When set to "high intensity", these lights get HOT. All five of my lights are too hot to touch after two hours of continuous use at the highest intensity setting. After four hours of operation in a 65 °F room, I measured the surface temperature with an infrared kitchen thermometer at 156 °F to 162 °F, depending on the light. This is not nearly hot enough to start a fire, but these lights do run very hot to the touch and will burn you if you run them for extended periods of time on the highest setting. It also makes me wonder just how long these will last before the LEDs burn out.5. Absolutely no manual, instructions or literature is provided to give guidance to proper use.Overall, I would buy more of these if I had another similar setup. I am generally happy with these lights but they could easily be improved upon, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5 stars. Also, there are a number of similar lights out there that are rated at 8W and I wonder if this 10W light is an over-driven version of the 8W lights, hence the excessive heat generation. I don't have a lux meter so unfortunately I have no way to compare.Cheers,Mighty Quinn

Stopped working after a few months
The cord plugs into a separate charger pack (that goes into the wall socket). The fit is not very good. I had to attach it with electrical tape to get it to stay together so the cord doesn't fall out when it gets touched or jiggled. The light no longer works. It stoppped working after about 10 months of use.

Beats hydroponics.
A tomato plant in front of a south-east facing slider was on its way out. It's now thriving. Almost immediately, I see four blossoms where I would otherwise expect two (or maybe none). Beats hydroponics.

This is probably only good for one to two plants due to size
I have been using this light for my orchids, too soon to know if it is beneficial. There are several light color options. This is probably only good for one to two plants due to size.

Nicely constructed and very adaptable to moving around as needed
Handy little thing to move around and direct softly diffused red/blue spectrum. It's usefulness is in the ability to clamp and then bend the light's focus in any way needed. Nicely constructed and very adaptable to moving around as needed.

Mixed review
Wish the arm was longer. It's really quite short and I'm not sure it helped my amaryllis bloom any faster since the info indicated it would take six weeks to bloom and with the grow light round the clock it still took 6 weeks
