My First Book of Hockey: A Rookie Book (A Sports Illustrated Kids Book)

when we read it, we realized that it is definitely missing a page. It goes from Overtime to GAME OVER…. this is the third book we have and this is the only one that my 5 year old was like, wait…. It’s missing a step. Disappointed since I bought this 3 months before his birthday and now I cannot return.

I bought this for my daughter. It is super cute, but a bit wordy. It would be really good for 5-8 year olds. Definitely a beginner hockey book. I like how it had pictures of different NHL teams in the book. For sure a must if you are a hockey family.

Gave this book to my Great Nephew at Christmas. He has his parents read it to him almost every night before going to bed.

Love this book and how they show real players . Too bad they didn’t have more avalanche players in there ;) but thats just a personal choice. Love the simple wording to teach kids the game of hockey.

Bought this book for my 4yo that plays hockey (Go Oakland Bears!). Great book that introduces basic concepts of the game in terms a little kid can understand. For example, what is a breakway? What is a face off? What is offsides? Icing? Etc. Uses pics and players from all over the NHL to illustrate. My son totally loves it (and the wife references it as well!).

I just got this book today and it's exactly what I wanted for my new Hockey player son! It's more of a picture book but it's 50 pages, very colorful, fun humor and loaded with information about hockey positions, game rules and how to play the game. So far I love it, can't wait to give it to him for his 9th birthday!

This is a great intro to hockey for a kid! My son got it for his 8th birthday and has read it several times. He had just become interested in the game and this book lays out the basics in a cute, simple way.

My son loves this book! It gives great explanations for a youngster learning about the game.

I bought this book, a Christmas present for Noah. It would appear he has this book read to him 3 or 4 times a day. I saw him at a game last night and he can tell me all the rules etc. He will start playing when he’s 4!!!

My grandchildren and daughter loved this well written book that explains the complexities of the game of hockey in a simple, understandable, highly entertaining way.

Quality of book is poor. After a couple months, book is falling apart everywhere in the center. My 2 year old likes the book though. Thank goodness Canucks are in there, and Oilers are not (haha!), we read it every night but we also read other books every night that are not falling apart! Oh well... I think it's this style and size of book, we have another book similar to it and it's beginning to come apart too.

Cute little book. Half cartoon half really NHL players. Too bad there wasn’t more HABS in it! ;)

My little guy loves this book. Both of us (his parents) play hockey and I found this to be the best hockey book for little kids I’ve found! It is accurate and detailed with lots of different aspects of the game to keep him engaged and wanting to read it over and over again haha!
