Q: I assumed the connectors would snap into the shell. wrong - they are as shown. is there a way to remove & reverse the red/black pairs?

What do you mean it's wrong. This and the QSR version are the same. If you don't like the black on the left rotate 180 degrees... Boom.

Q: Are the individual pp shells removable from the overall housing? i need to reverse r/b pairs. (not the pins). if so, how? drill?

Need a small tool to tap out the pin in the center if the housing... Flip and reinsert pin

Q: What is the max wire size (AWG) these connectors fit?

This item includes 30 amp contacts which accept up to 12 AWG wire. You can purchase 45 amp contacts separately that accept up to 10 AWG wire.

Q: what is the diameter of the face (not the hole)?

The panel face diameter is approximately 1-3/8" / 34 mm
