Really enjoyed this book. A well-written introduction into the traditions, lifestyle and quirks of Swedes today. Concise descriptions of the key events in Sweden's history are helpful for understanding who the Swedes are today, while a run-down of the values and attitudes that are prevalent in Swedish society help you understand what's important to them (for example, concepts like "lagom", meaning "just enough", and the Jante Laws that continue to have an influence).The book talks you through all the major traditions and rites of passage, religious and secular, and how Swedes go about their daily lives, at home, at work and in their social lives. There are a lot of helpful tips throughout the book that give a good sense of how to get to know the Swedes "on their terms" as well as the pitfalls to avoid.Recommended!

Great guide to Swedish culture and society. Well written, and includes plenty of tips on socializing, communicating, and traveling around. Overall, found it really helpful during my recent trip. The info on history and values was interesting too!

I usually look at the size of books I buy. Unfortunately, I did not with this one. NOT worth $10 I paid for it. Not enough content and too small.
