Nice to have, but not worth £35
I bought this game second hand for £20, it is compact, nice to look at on the table, and quick to set up. It is also easy to learn. For these reasons it is a good little filler game, but that is all it is. Unless the right combination of cards come ups your score will be in the same narrow band every game. I am yet to try card drafting, maybe that will make the game more tactical but the base rules are too influenced by luck and getting certain cards at the right time will provide a big bonus and win you the game, not your skill. If I had paid £35 I would be very unhappy, but I only paid £20 for the game and a play mat so I will keep it.Personally I bought ultra tiny epic galaxies aswell, new for £16, and imo that is a much more fun game, even the solo play is exciting and the first time I have really enjoyed a solo board game.

So much in so little
Age of Civilization is an amazingly compact (~6x4x2 box) civilization building, worker placement game. During the game you will rise and/or annex civilizations to increase technology, raise gold, build wonders, and even fight your opponents! There are over 40 different civilizations, each with their own special abilities and legacy abilities. The eight fluctuating action cards can also be randomized (or replaced with more challenging ones) to further increase the replayability. No two games will be the same! What I really love about this game is the solo mode option. AoC not only has a regular ("skirmish") solo mode to start off when learning the game, but actually has 5 bonus scenario solo modes as well. This adds even more replayability to an already replayable game. The components are good quality, the cards are compact (think Talisman size), and it has enough meat to it to make this not just a compact travel game, but also a decent meal at game night. With a low playtime of 30-40 minutes or so, you could get numerous games in any given game session. My only gripe was that two of my Wonder cards came damaged, one rather badly (see picture). If either of these two are the next card up in the Wonder market, they're easy to spot since they're 'marked' in a way. Kinda ruins the surprise/randomness factor.Other than that, for so much in so little, AND at this current price point ($20), this is a no brainer for anyone interested in a good travel, civ builder, worker placement, and/or soloable compact game.PS - I actually have one other small gripe...I wish there was at least 1 or even 2 more rounds, as currently it sits at only 6. Not enough to dock a star, but at game end I'm always wishing there was just a little more game time...maybe some food for thought for any possible future expansion?EDIT: After contacting the ICE Makes company, I received 2 replacement cards a few months later. Both are in perfect condition. Good business!

Interesting and fun game
I do like this game a lot. It's quick and it's fun for me, but my husband was not in love with it. I think he found it a bit too abstract. The production is nice. Maybe I'll find someone else who will enjoy playing it with me.

Nice little game
Relatively easy game to learn and plays quickly. 30 minutes is about right. It is a worker placement game utilizing up to 3 different civilizations. There are enough variables to make each game a little different. The game itself is really small but it is nicely packaged. Great for travel.

Best FAST Civ Game I've ever played, yet has depth!
Wow! I took a chance on this game hoping it would be like a hidden gem...and this little box of WONDERS has amazing depth and strategy despite the small footprint and simple rules. The rules can be read and absorbed in 15-20 mins, there are a plethora of optional rules that really expands gameplay, and there are scenarios and solo play as well. This game reminds me of what Tiny Epic games might come put with for a civilization style game...overall solid quality (not the best ever but not bad at all...for 25 bucks it's a little better than you might expect, along the same lines as tiny epic). The box and organization inside the small box is also well done (and rules aren't cheesy foreign hard to understand). Just amazing gem of a game for easy learning, yet incredible replayability, and definitely travel sized to bring along on trips (not suitable for playing in a car or on a plane...you'll need a table to coffee table to play on). Games should last between half hour for 2 players to 45-60 mins for 3-4 players. Even for our first game it took about 25 mins to explain and about an hour to finish. It felt thematic despite the relatively quick game play (especially for a civ game)! They also included a few blank cards for those of us who like to tinker with games to make our own civs and actions etc. Well done! One of the best 25 bucks I've ever spent on a board/card game! If you're a gamer who enjoys civ/strategy games you owe to yourself to grab this little gem!

Fabulous game with crunchy decisions that does play quickly
Crunchy civ games, solo or multiplayer with multiple scenarios via many cards. Easy to learn and enjoyable to play taking under an hour.
