Wrangler Custom DIY Hardware Kit (wood not included)

This set is great. Went together fairly easily. I'm handy, but no carpenter, and I didn't have any trouble. Just make sure to read the directions carefully and take the time to make sure everything is square. Took me about 9 hours total by myself except for a little help with some of the heavy lifting. I pre-cut all of the wood in advance. This thing is STURDY. I can climb up there with my littler girl and jump around and this thing doesn't move at all. And I'm 6'3 and 250lbs. My daughter is 2 and can't quite manage to make it up the ladder, so I'm going add a slanted one to replace it for now. For all the pressure treated wood and screws at Home Depot I spent about $330. This set is awesome.

After some research, I decided to purchase the Wrangler Custom hardware kit. I wanted to build something sturdy and durable enough to last for years to come. I was not disappointed. You do have to buy your own wood and screws which was another few hundred dollars but this included all the hardware necessary to make the job easy. Do yourself a favor and purchase coated square head screws. Purchase more of the 3" then what the instructions say to. We ran out and I had to go and get more. With the help of one other person and some prep work the day before by cutting and marking the length on each piece of wood, we were able to fully construct the set within a weekend. The kids love this thing and haven't stopped playing on it since it was built weeks ago. I normally don't submit ratings but I ended up being a few carriage bolts short which was no big deal but I reported to Swing N Slide on a Sunday and had an immediate response that night! (Even though the response was in a junk folder for 2 days.) Awesome customer service! Purchase this set and you won't be disappointed..

Just finished this over the weekend. I did all the cuts in advance and then followed the directions to build the swing set. I did it without any help, however there were a few parts that were hard to do without help. If I was not 6'5 I would have had trouble lifting the main beam onto the fort. This cost me between $650 and $700 bucks. I bought all the wood at a local lumber yard I use and had it delivered (400). The slide is 100 bucks and between 50 and 100 bucks in screws (exterior screws are not cheep) I highly recommend checking with a lumber yard over the big box stores for wood. They tend to have better quality treated lumber, and its fresher because they go through wood faster then home depot does. I have a lot of experience with construction so this was an easy project for me, but an amateur diyer or novice would be able to figure this out. Cons (and 4 stars) - basically paying $100 for 3 swings, two brackets, directions, and a bunch of thru bolts. The directions / plans are very good so I am ok with that. - The slide is $100 bucks which is absurd. This is clearly the piece where they are making all of their money. - Everything is bolted together with thru bolts. That is fine, but I hate thru bolts (and my main 4 star gripe). If I did this again I would attach everything with Simpson structural screws. Overall I am very happy with this product and I would buy again.

Just make sure you understand that this does not include any wood. The pieces and parts were all there and work great. The instructions were pretty good. I built this myself and probably spent a total of 24 hours. Two guys could probably build this in a day if you are handy and have the appropriate tools.

The kit components were all good quality. Everything fit together and appears as durable and high quality as the kit I bought 30 years ago for the Wrangler. That one is still in use in our backyard, I'd expect this one which I bought for our grandchildren to last a long time as well. Some of the instructions, especially for the bracket between the main beam and the playset were difficult to follow. We came up with what we think was a far better way to install than the instructions. ALl in all I think it is a good set and would recommend to a friend.

The instructions are easy to understand and all of the pieces fit together perfectly. I cut the wood as I went along instead of all at the beginning and it is a good thing I did because as you are building if you are not on perfectly level ground you may have to slightly adjust some cuts.

I used redwood and it was about $400 at home depot in california. It is way more beefy than i thought. The instructions have an error. Caused me to buy an extra 2x6 and 2x4. The kit has parts that are kinda cheap compared to the strength of the structure. The stairs werent gonna work, i modified. I also added a table below the structure. The slide that is recommended with it is really flimsy. No quality there. A similar structure is $2500 installed. Bottom line, your craftsmanship will be legit. The accessories will not be as good. Have fun. As far as the posts about being misleading, did you really think you'd get the wood too? And it clearly says it doesnt include the slide. Its just the hardware and plans tard!

Follow the instructions; if you have had any carpentry experience; this is fast and easy to construct.
