Balanced Approach on Complex Topic
Deliverance was an excellent read that dives deep into demonology and deliverance ministry in a way that’s biblical, practical, pastoral, and loving. I highly recommend it!

Theologically Astute and Extremely Helpful
One of the best theological books I have read, it's practical, and very, very thorough. This and Karl Payne's book on the topic have my highest recommendation. I believe this book specifically is needed for these dark times.

Good primer on an usual subject
It may be weird to say but I really appreciated the charity, practicality and balance of this book on demonization. I think many like to quote CS Lewis about not over or under emphasizing demonic activity but then proceeded to do just that. I liked Thompson's pros and cons of the different models of deliverance as well as going through all church history. Thompson proposed model goes further then I am comfortable with but also had so much good practical advice in there, that it's not worth abandoning completely. If nothing else this book jolted me out of my naturally materialistic tendencies.

Deliverance
Great Book on Spiritual Warfare! The Writer walks through the history of scripture, early church and modern day “schools” of it.Very well written and recommend to anyone asking questions about Spiritual Warfare, Deliverance and Inner Healing ministries.

This book should cost MORE
Wow. What’s there to say besides this is theologically sound, true, and bold in 2022! And yet this is the very element of our faith and reality that we are missing in the Church today!Outside of our deep need for the Holy Spirit and for the Word of God. This area of deliverance is DEEPLY NEEDED and often completely missing! And Jon brings this to the forefront. It’s brilliant. And no matter where you’re coming from on your theological scale, Josh will meet you there, in the scriptures, and show you this area of ministry is for the reformers as much as the pentecostals. It’s a brilliant read and I couldn’t recommend it enough!Oh also. If you’re a Pastor like me, READ THIS BOOK.Also if you’re an every day Jesus loving, Church faithful, but looking to grow… READ THIS BOOK! And buy it for a likeminded friend to go deep with. It’ll be an adventure that’s a treat that will leave you more equipped and ready for the Christian life!Lets go Jon!!!

Biblical, Thoughtful, Challenging, & Inspiring
This book was so helpful for me in thinking biblically through this topic. His work with the Scriptures was very thought provoking. He stays close to the text and brings forth a lot of really great insight. He summarizes a lot of church history, bringing forth the best of various traditions. I found this book both challenging to my previous understanding of this topic and helpful for thinking through what it looks like for churches to take part in this type of ministry.

Saturated in scripture
This book fell in my lap by accident quite frankly, but a few chapters in I began to see why. I grew up in a spiritually charged environment that was unfortunately full of unhealthy approaches to deliverance and ministry. In recent years, I've felt an increased sensitivity to the spiritual realm but was wary do dig into it because of my background. I felt like Jon broke my preconceived notions on what deliverance ministry looks like and laid a biblical, practical and scripturally saturated foundation to help those in bondage. Buy it.

Theologically excellent
Took a lot of self-control to not buy ten copies and immediately ship them off to friends and family. And I actually am buying a second copy now to give away. This is such a vital topic and I’ve never seen anyone treat it as comprehensively and as carefully as Thompson does.

A deep but important dive!
This book has been incredibly helpful in such an important topic. Jon does a wonderful work in laying the biblical foundations and goes quite into depth which I love. Not neglecting church history and presenting other perspectives from some close friends of his, Jon adds how Sanctus church does deliverance ministry which has been very helpful. It packs a punch but is truly a prophetic word for any wanting to explore deliverance ministry in depth.

Brilliant book
This is a brilliant book, comprehensive and thorough, without getting bogged down. It's grounded in an area that can too often become sensationalised. It takes the subject seriously, not diluting anything. Highly recommended.

Such a Powerful Equipping Resource for Pastors and Lead Teams across Canada and more!
Thank you, Pastor Jon Thompson, for putting together this powerful equipping resource for local church lead teams. So many takeaways! Our Senior Pastor and a few of us on our Lead Team have eagerly consumed the book. And, we are planning to use it in taking a deep dive into developing our working model for Deliverance ministry. You helped me many times while reading to clearly see hope for our Church here in Atlantic Canada to mobilize intentionally and effectively in the next 5-10 years into a new era of Freedom in our region. Really hope-filled and helpful. I'll end with one quote from Deliverance, "The Church Fathers lived in a world eerily similar to the world I see around me in Toronto, where Christianity is sidelined at best and considered dangerously out of step at worst. The conditions we face today are much more comparable to Rome and Corinth in the first century than to Wittenburg and Geneva in the sixteenth. We are so post-Christian, so de-Christian; we are becoming pre-Christian." Thanks!!

An incredible and timely resource for every follower of Jesus!
This book was both insightful and encouraging. So often, resources that seek to reveal the present and pressing realities of the demonic, the devil and spiritual powers, succeed in revealing the truth about the enemy, but fail to reveal the truth about the victory we as disciples of Jesus are invited to walk in. Jon has done an incredible job with deliverance in both providing the insight and the equipping every believer needs to walk in personal authority over the enemy, and to be an instrument used by God in our day to continue His work of freeing captives and expelling forces bent on destruction. I heartily recommend this book for every Christian!

Insightful, Practical, Biblical, and Encouraging. Must read for pastors today.
Wanting our congregations to experience the abundant life that Jesus offers us, is at the heart of every pastor. One key area - spiritual warfare/deliverance - tends to be ignored in the West. Jon makes such a beautiful and biblical case for the need and effectiveness of this kind of ministry for today. Not only does Jon work through the Biblical basis for deliverance but also provides key insight and practical help for what this ministry could look like in a local community. Thank you Jon.
