Tunze 9012 Comline DOC Skimmer

Nice sturdy plan for properly executing its purpose, skimming the water. I like the DC model especially for it’s variable power control. It’s small with a mighty punch.

The one word “CATASTROPHIC”. Absolutely catastrophic. Starting from the fact that I got not the same model as it is in the item description: I got 9012.000 AC when must be 9012.001 DC. When appeared I found the air intake blocked. But it was something that I was ready to accept. But NOISE!!! This noise is unbelievable and that I can’t believe that a solid manufacturer like “Tunze” can agreed to produce.. I tried everything: places, levels - nothing helped. No help or assistance neither from seller, nor from Tunze. Make things short, AVOID for any price. Run away from it. Very disappointed. Very-very disappointed. UPDATE: Well, after 3 moths of use I have to update my review to reflect that fact that now it really works much-much quiet. I have 2 systems and one is big and far enough from the living room so it worked all this time, connected to the second tank, and week after week it was better and better. So, now it took its place back where it has to be and finally works absolutely normally as expected. So, you need time to let it in.

Works well right out of the box

If you look at the new skimmers, they fixed everything wrong with this version. The knobs fall off the controller rendering it useless(it will happen), the cup will float off at times with no skim weighing it down, the hose to the magnets can’t reach once your water level drops even a little, the air flow adjust ti the silencer is horrible and will lose tension over time. Their new revision model is so much better for a hundred bucks more. It’s on the manufacturer’s site.

Does have a hefty price. But when you’re talking about an investment in equipment for the saltwater/reef tank hobby this is a no brainer. Not only is it slim and compact it skims perfectly tucked away in the back of my Innovative Marine SR-80 Gallon tank. With the DC controller I can shut off the skimmer itself for cleaning and not have to shut off all the rest of the equipment. The product feels well made and I love I can adjust the pump with a small controller. Also you can’t go wrong with Tunze, they’re basically the Mercedes/Lexus of reef hobby equipment. Worth the investment!

It’s okay. Adjusting the air is difficult…so had to resort to adjusting the pump…max I can run the pump is 10% otherwise it fills the container in a day.

The device came with assembly so i can use directly. The skimming function is good after 3 weeks' use. The main issue is it's very noisy. i had contacted Tunze maintenance and now is waiting for the spare parts. i will update my review later.

I really want to love this skimmer. It pulls out a lot of junk. However, the micro bubbles are so bad that I can only run it at night. I think part of the problem is the wide "lip"on my tank that won't allow me to set the skimmer low enough. It is so nice and compact and is a beast so I tolerate it.
