Barrel and motor are bulletproof. Legs are weak.
I have two of these feeders with about four years of combined use out of them and they still work as well as the day I bought them. However, I've had to replace the legs on both feeders because at least one leg has collapsed on each. I replaced the legs with some 1 1/4" square steel tubing from Home Depot and secured the band to the feeder drum with a few extra bolts. They'll make it through a hurricane now. For the cost of these feeders the stock legs should definitely be thicker. I also recommend getting a solar panel kit. I run my feeders twice a day pretty much year round and the solar panel/2 battery setup will keep power all year.

Just buy it!
Ok...I’ve got a few things to say about the Moultrie 55 gallon pro magnum feeder. First I gotta sing its praises! This thing is awesome! Super easy to put together. I was about to assemble it all by myself. I’m about 5’7” so I thought it might be hard to get it from it’s side to the standing position, but it wasn’t hard at all. Setting up the timer was very easy as well. (I did watch a few YouTube vids before my feeder was delivered). I recommend to use a short run time. I’m using 5 seconds twice a day and it’s been doing great. Lots of feed comes out in 5 seconds. It didn’t take the deer long at all to get used to it. I’ve had it for a few weeks now, and they know the schedule already. I was hesitant to buy it because people kept talking about it possibly tipping over. Don’t listen to them. I made sure the legs were securely pushed into the ground a little and they haven’t budged. We’ve had strong winds that knocked down trees and the feeder is doing great! I don’t have any issues with raccoons or squirrels messing with it. The only issue I have is filling it. It’s really high off the ground. Trying to carry an open bag of feed up the ladder and hoisting it into the barrel was pretty tough. So, I decided to pour the feed into a 5 gallon bucket and it was much easier to handle on the ladder. If you’re a big and strong young buck, you can probably just throw the bag over your shoulder and stroll up the ladder. I’m 41 with lots of wear and tear, so I’ll be using the bucket. Hahaha! But seriously, buy this feeder. You won’t be disappointed.

Great quality feeder, good job Moultrie.
I decided to purchase this tripod feeder after doing a lot of research. I will list some of the PROS and CONS based off my opinion.PROS :1. It's a metal barrel, no squirrel and/or raccoon will eat through it like my previous feeder.2. It's tall, I think the height will deter the same animals I listed above from climbing up the legs and trying to eat the corn.3. You can install two 6V batteries for longer field life (which is what I did) and in addition you can install a solar panel if you like.4. The programmable timer (brains) of the unit is securely mounted inside so you're not fumbling with the wires all the time.5. It holds up to 400lbs of feed, that's a lot of corn, the timer said that I can go almost 60 days feeding three times a day for 8 seconds each spin.CONS :1. The legs seem to be pretty small in diameter and a little wobbly, Moultrie should make them a little more "beefier" and that could easily solve that issue.2. Since this unit is a 55 gallon drum, the lid is like any other barrell, it will retain water since it is flat and recessed.3. Speaking of the lid, you need a large flathead screwdriver or a socket to remove the ring, kind of a pain in the rear if you forget and you're out deep in the woods like me.Overall, I am very happy so far and glad that I purchased this product.

Great Product again from Moultrie
I saw some of the negative comments on here before I bought and I just didn't think Moultrie would put out as terrible a product as described by some. I've had Moultrie products for years and I can't remember a problem with any of them. Delivered was on time and as described. It was missing no parts and there was no damage. I also purchased a Moultrie solar charger with a back up battery in it. That gives me three batteries on this feeder!I checked it after the first week and it is operating flawlessly. Batteries are at 100%. The feeder only holds 300-310 pounds of corn. That's all I could get in it. Maybe Moultie was using smaller kernels of corn when they measured it LOL!Overall, no problems thus far.MOULTRIE....The one suggestion I would make to better this feeder would be to change the location of the accessory plug in. It should have been placed INSIDE the varmint guard. Then run up through the inside of the feeder, attaching it to the inside wall with sticky cable holders to another port on the top wall of the feeder located just below the lid. Rubber grommets would be installed to keep the moisture out from around the cable. If the accessories port is not used by the customer the plastic shipping covers could be left in. The problem of locating it where you did is that it is a natural grab point for varmints. They were on mine and on the cable. It was pulled out, but not all the way and continued to work. With heavier critters, it will be a problem in the future.
