Time Out Mat - New Game Changing Parenting Tool for consistent, Positive and Safe Child Discipline (Blue)

I like the idea of the Time Out Mat, however, the mat itself is very cheaply made, so does the print. It came with super strong smell, and I have to put in my yard to let the smell get away. The smell is bad for your health, because it contains formaldehyde. The attached picture shows my air filter still orange after 10 minutes unwrapping the mat in the room. The light was red as soon as I unwrapped the mat. For $25 bucks, I suggested you buy a good quality yoga mat, then write on the mat yourself for the rules. For the health reason, this mat is going back.

This system works amazingly well! It has taken the idea of a time out mat and developed it into a much clearer and effective method. Obviously, a good deal of experience and thought went into its design and development. The rules for the TOM's use are clearly and attractively stated on the mat itself, for the benefit of both child and parent. As a result, if the rules are followed, the inevitable attempt for negotiation and/or argument, by either the child or parent is taken away. Also, it's wonderful to see how a child will sometimes choose to use the TOM totally on their own. It seems to provide them with a safe place where they, within the rules, have an opportunity to find peace or work through something themselves.Everyone who has small children or knows someone with small children should give them a try. I'm sure you and your young one's will be pleased.

I like the idea that a child has a chill time out space to sit, lay down, thrash... it makes my 2.5 year old know expectations and routines. But I thought the print quality of the white text was poor. The lettering just doesn't look as good as it appears in photos. I do think it is a nice option for strong-willed young ones, for sure.

Time outs in my son's room often turned into a crazy screaming match. After using his T.O.M. and sticking to the T.O.M.'s Rules for a bout a week, we both know what to do and time outs are much smoother. I'm buying one for daughter now. If you have a kid, I strongly recommend using a T.O.M. every time!

Will be using it at school to help TK-1 graders, when being sent to the principal's office.

As a general psychiatrist and a University professor who has counselled many parents in techniques for managing challenging children, I found the TOMS (time out mat) to be the most useful and effective product on the market. It is very simple, very ease for a parent to use and very easy for a child to understand. It allows the parent to provide a safe, non-abusive way to institute an appropriate consequence for bad behavior on a consistent basis. The TOMS mat can travel with the family and I recommends to all young families who seek help raising their children. In fact I suggest that each young child has his or her own TOMS. Parenting children is challenging to say the least. T.O.M. is a game-changing helpful tool. Time Out Mat's "rules" help make being consistent with parenting easy. Our power struggles have been reduced as a result of this system.
