Why in the world did ai not have this months ago?
I did some research regarding oil extractors before I made this purchase. This comes with a venturi which creates a vacuum from pressure generated from an air compressor. One may also use the manual pump function, if you don't have a compressor (or you could just purchase a compressor, which you can use to inflate tires of all sizes, operate pneumatic tools, spray paint, blow air to clean many things). I was astonished to see how easy and complete the extractor functioned. Assembly took 3 minutes. I used it to extract oil on my Mercedes. Typically, the oil filters on European cars are visible under the hood. I've been driving this car up on ramps for years. But yesterday, I assembled the tool, (note: the main plug through which the oil drains into the extractor and through which one pours the oil into a container for recycling twists on counterclockwise); turned on the compressor, and the oil began to flow. In 5 minutes, I was ready to change the oil filter. Removed the cap from the canister, replaced the filter and o-rings, torqued down the cap, and measured the oil digitally from the dashboard. Done in minutes, with no oil spilled. (I found the oil drain plug location from a Youtube video). Mercedes doesn't really want you to know how easy this is. Mine is black in color, about 3" long and located toward the back of the engine on the passenger side, near where the transmission plug is located and just above the latter, which has a red dot. You can tell that you are extracting oil rather than transmission fluid by its color, smell, and feel. Replace plug, oil filler cap after filling with the appropriate oil. I love this device; I purchased the largest, since I plan to do multiple kids cars without draining. Smaller ones are quite a bit less. Extractor is sturdy, no fear of collapse under vacuum.

Worked excellent on my 2009 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6 4x4
After years of changing my oil in the traditional manner (bottom side), I decided to make the switch to the top side approach. I must say that after living in Europe for a number of years, the top side oil change process is most prevalent and wide spread with many top side oil extraction machines collocated with the air and water machines at many local gas stations.I originally purchased the short metal top side oil change unit with a squeeze clamp half way down the plastic extraction tube only to find out our poor unit was. The clap was hard to squeeze tight enough to allow for any meaningful vacuum to develop and the small capacity built in pump took many many pumps to develop an okay vacuum.I decided to give the top side oil change one more go with this oil extraction unit that offered both, manual pump and a standard pneumatic pump fitting, it allowed to get more use out of my Makita 2 gallon big bore compressor 😊. I am super glad I went with this unit; the general build quality is excellent and the pneumatic fitting work perfectly with my existing attachment. The capacity was also more than adequate for the 4.7L that came out of the truck. The operation of the unit could not have been easier, just hoop up the air compressor, run the provided oil extraction tube down the dip stick tube and turn on the air flow. Within seconds, the warm oil came out at a pretty good flow rate.I agree with a couple of other reviewers; the manual pump should only be used with you don’t have access to an air compressor, not because it of a lesser quality, but because the air compressor option is so nice and easy. The walls of the oil reservoir are a bit thicker that other units, making it a bit harder to see how much oil was extracted, but if you have adequate lighting it will not be an issue.Like other have noted, the oil extraction hose is a bit on the short side, it does reach the bottom of the oil pan, however, for my truck that sits a bit higher, I had to place the oil extraction until about 1 foot off the ground so the oil extraction hose could reach easily. I took the used oil to be recycled at my local car parts store, it was a breeze pouring out the used oil without a single drop of oil gettingIf you are on the fence as to what unit to go with, it a no brainer for me, go with one that has both options (manual and pneumatic), you will not regret it.

This is THE bomb.
I bought this unit because my Jeep has a top mounted oil filter and if this worked I wouldn’t need to climb under my vehicle. It worked perfectly. The unit extracted every ounce out of my oil pan. I know because I added the full amount of new oil that the manual recommended and my dipstick read full. It’s also easy to see how much oil has been extracted. The unit itself is very well constructed and contained all the tubing I needed. I used my air compressor to attach to the pneumatic fitting and extraction took about 10-15 minutes. You might want some earplugs though because the noise is quite loud when running on a compressor. This unit is a good value for the price. Highly recommend!!

Mostly good. One nuisance issue.
Inserting the main tube is difficult. I even tried lubricating both sides: the main tube at the o-ring and where it goes in to the pump. I still had to tap it a bit with a small ball peen hammer. Not ideal since it is plastic. But once connected, the extractor worked fine. I decided to leave the main tube in when I was done and hope that over time it will settle in. Don't expect comprehensive instructions. Needs a tube storage system of some type. Certainly a good value.
