Campfire Stories Deck: Prompts for Igniting Conversation by the Fire

My extended family held a week-long reunion last summer by Lake Superior: 28 people in three generations, ages from 18 to 84. There were families from the East coast, West coast, and Minnesota, and we didn't all know each other very well. On the first day, we had a picnic by the shore, with a big campfire. People were talking and telling jokes when one of the dads brought out this deck of cards. He went around the group and invited each one in turn to pull a card and tell the story it suggests. The ideas were general enough that everyone could tell something relevant, and each person could choose something superficial or more revealing to disclose, so it didn't feel threatening. Everyone got into it, and we all laughed or sympathized or booed the villain, and had a wonderful time. It certainly broke the ice and helped us get to know each other, so closer ties could be built during the week. I came home and bought my own set of the cards for the next campfire gathering, and wrote a thank-you to the clever dad who brought it.

I love it! I've been playing with my family and friends at christmas time and it was the perfect. I've also used it at work for animating some team-bonding activities. The prompts are great, diverse, not too hard but interesting at the same time. I also love the design and graphics, it's very in tone with the national park/camping/fire topics. High recommended. It was the perfect Christmas gift!

Every a topic is one that'll lead to an interesting story even for people who have only camped once or twice and even for people who have never been camping and have only hiked. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to spend hours talk with each other. The cards are also large and have a large print so it's easy to read.

Great gift for a friend who camps A LOT! Paraphrased examples of questions on the card: Describe an unexpected animal encounter. Tell about a time when you learned a lesson the hard way. Just these two questions took us way into the night sharing and learning. Ask interesting people good questions and you will never be bored! Cards and box were made of quality paper. They should last a long time. Gave it a 4/5 bc I think the cards were so big and the font was not so big; it left lots of “white space.” Since we are reading in the dark by firelight, maybe make the font bigger or the cards smaller? Obviously didn’t bother me too much since this is the second set I’ve purchased for gifts.

This storytelling prompts brought up some great memories in our family. Not sure about replayability, but worth the purchase price.

We use these as a family and with friends around the fire pit. We always learn more about each other & get some good laughs. It’s a great way to get off of technology & around the fire.

Love this product! The idea and ease of use are so simple. But the result can range from spontaneous belly laughter to all kinds of emotions. It makes everyone more creative. And makes for a fun night, event or whatever.
