Can we Paint these grills?

Only if they say "paintble" ... and I did not paint them so I don't recall. BTW, I would not buy them again. One stopped working probably due to a small thump from turning on an amp. Upon autopsy, I noted a burned coil, and that, generally, the size of the components inside is as cheap as possible to meet the spec. They were out of warranty, so I had no choice but to trash the pair of them. As a studio owner, I have bought almost 20 thousand dollars worth of Focal speakers in my life ... so I respect the brand, but these in-walls are cheaply built. They sounded ok ... but I just installed a pair of Elac in-walls, and they were beefy, sounded great, and had solid internal components compared to the Focals.

Is this just for center speaker? Can I use a pair as left and right stereo speakers?

These can be used as left center right or surround use. I bought them as surrounds and I am surprised by how good they are. I think that they would make great L/R speakers. Installation vertically was simple, but horizontal in wall placement might require some modification to your wall studs. Check the measurements closely.

Would it be viable to build a simple wooden enclosure for these?

Focal makes a box that can be installed with these so I guess it might have some benefit, but I believe that they are designed to use the wall cavity as a "box." Mine sound fine as in-walls. If you were attempting to use these as freestanding then some enclosure is necessary.

can these be used in ceiling?

I wouldn't unless it was a very high ceiling. The issue is that MTM designs have a listening distance assumed in the design, and I am sure it is more than 2 feet ... probably more like 8 or 10. This is because of the interference pattern that the 2 drivers create for each other. Also, they would point straight down, which means the dispersion would make the sound very uneven in the room. There exist ceiling speakers that point 30 degrees sideways, allowing a much larger optimal listening area for a ceiling mounted speaker. I won't help you find those. If Focal makes one, I'd buy it but I don't think they do ... I like their speakers and have owned many different types for my recording studio.
