Does the thermostat have an off position?

This unit does NOT have a positive off. It does shut off if turned all the way counter clockwise IF the room temperature is above 44 degrees F or so. Temperatures below this will cause the unit to run indefinitely unless that temperature is reached. We discovered this in a vacation house in the California Sierra that is vacant much of the winter. Temperatures often are in the teens, twenties and thirties and the three units we have cycled constantly in this weather. We called Cadet to complain and they sent us three replacement thermostat switches WITH a positive off position for $22 each ($71 total with tax). Cadet's wiring directions are ambiguous (I'm an electrician) but I was able to figure it out and now all three shut off in any weather. Cadet might make a unit with this positive off switch factory installed so, I would check with them first and get that part number if they do. I can see nor reason why any of their units should come without a positive off switch. The unit works well otherwise, but I never would have purchased this model if I knew that there wasn't a positive off feature.
